JINS sells and designs eyewear that combines the

current trends and functionality, employing a SPA

business model and a low cost approach to achieve
pricing that is lower than its competitors.

The prescription glasses market was transformed in 2001

with introduction of the brand. Currently JINS has
around 450 stores across the world and counting with
the lens fitting process down to only 30 minutes. The
product range is diverse that suits people of every age.
It has products ranging from optical to sunglasses to
JINS screens that help block blue light.

All JINS members get a $50 e-coupon on purchase of

any item over $399. Along with that the members are
also entitled to a discount of 12% every Tuesday. The
brand keeps on running discount and promotion offers
for both members and non-members. Part of the
optometrists at JINS have registered the Health Care
Voucher Scheme and are eligible to provide the
“Professional Eye Examination” service for Hong Kong ID
holders aged  65 or above, related service fee will be
deducted directly from customer’s eHealth account.
Student discounts are also available.

JINS uses high quality of lenses ranging from thick

polycarbonate to aspheric lenses at no additional
charges as compared to other brands. The variety of
lenses offered are 20+ in number. It also has a quick
after sales service and easy warranty claims for any
defects in lieu of a bill of purchase. The glasses can
be replaced free of charge up to two times over the
next six months, so if after a few days you feel like
you’re not happy with the fit of the frames or the
strength of the lenses, you can come in and get them
replaced.

All frames are manufactured in Tokyo and then shipped

to China and US. The presence of an omni channel of
sales has also led to its success in recent times.

JINS are also collaborating with designers and brands

to create unique, limited edition, fashion items. Freak’s
Store, known for their collaborations over the years with
brands such as Canada Goose, Vans, and Playboy, have
teamed up with JINS to produce a line of classic
American vintage style glasses and sunglasses.

The newly developed JINS Switch range, released this

year, have a pair of magnets on the far corners of the
frame so you can transform you pair of prescription
glasses into sunglasses with polarizing lenses.

The Airframe line weigh only a third of a regular pair,

and are highly flexible yet instantly return to their
original shape. The reduced weight lessens fatigue,
lessens stress on the bridge of the nose, and can
reduce headaches which are caused by the weight of
the glasses reducing the blood circulation behind the
ears.

JINS is also equally responsible in giving back to the

society. They have launched a program called ‘Cases
for Causes’ where when you buy a collaboration case
for $5, 100% of the sales will go to the non-profit so
they can do what they do best: make the world a better
place to see.

JINS’ pricing along with its various schemes has mostly

targeted the middle class and above. The prices are not
very cheap and nor are they too exorbitant.

All in all, the range of products and the extra services

provided has led to JINS attracting a huge base of
customers and not letting other brands stand strong in
front of them.
