Thesedays, as society advances, people's demands have become increasingly diversified, there is a

phenomenon that has/ having triggered a heated discussion about cigarettes and their drawbacks. In
this essay, I will render my opinion to shed light on the harms of smoking.
First of all, smoking causes not only mental problems but also serious effects on physical health.
Due to the fact that a cigarette contains over 7000 chemical compounds, including carbon monoxide,
nicotine and other poisonous substances, smoking is considered to be one of the principal reasons
of lung disease and cancer. Moreover, smoking is not only harmful to smokers but also those around
them. If a person smokes in public then non-smokers nearby, specifically pregnant women, young
children and elderly who inhale the secondhand smoke will be affected and lead to troubling
consequences, especially pregnant women, young children and elderly. According to reliable
research, each year, tobacco cigarettes kill more than 8 million people worldwide, with approximately
1.2 billion of those being indirect smokers dying as the result of exposure to these toxic smoke.

Last but not least, smoking is a waste of money. An average cigarette pack costs 6 to 7 dollars, and
people who are addicted to smoking just throw their money into detrimental things such as tobacco.
The economic losses caused by smoking are enormous. According to the statistics of WHO and
American Cancer Society, annually the world has to spend about 422 billion USD into the treatment
of diseases caused by smoking too much. There will be a huge economic deficit if everyone ignores
the warning and increases the amount of smoking.

The omnipresent (= ubiquity: tràn lan) of mobile phones has called into question whether or not
students should be permitted to take their phones with them while attending class. Although utilizing
(= use) mobile phones in class offers students a lot of facilities, I think it should be banned for
several drawbacks.

On the one hand, it should be borne in mind that cellphones can have a myriad of (-> various, some,
numerous) advantages. First of all, utilizing cellphones under teacher’s supervision helps students to
work out several questions. Being provided with numerous documents and effective tools by the
devices, students can easily (= effortlessly) find out the answer and acquire more knowledge. Also,
searching and taking notes from the information given in cellphones may offer students an ability of
processing and summarizing.

On the other hand, using mobile phones while attending class may distract students from their
schooling. Entertaining options provided in the device such as games or messenger are more
stimulating to students rather than taking notice of boring lectures. As a result, sticking to those
interesting activities on the phone's screen instead of (= in lieu of) attentively writing down the key
points is almost their choice, which makes (= render) them tune out and consequently receive
mediocre academic results. Not only this, the productivity in class will obviously decrease by this
kind of action.

Another drawback of telephones is creating havoc with student's cognitive development and critical
thinking. Fortunately, phones offer students a profusion of information and sources which is
prohibitively useful for them in working out challenging problems. Students, however, may be less
motivated in finding out the answers of difficult tasks as they can hinge on the assistance of Google
and apps on their phones. This leads to the problem of overdependence on phones without
pondering in order to work out their schoolwork, and therefore will sabotage (-> hinder) their
cognitive skills in the long run. For instance, instead of determining to come up with the solutions
themselves, they will ask Google for a perfect answer.

To sum up, despite being a great assistance of students in the classroom, mobile phones still
interrupt them from schoolwork and impair their abilities of thinking cognitively and critically. In my
opinion, students shouldn’t be allowed to use it in class.

In this day and age, children have various pursuits such as: watching TV, going shopping, and using
smartphones, consequently, smartphones play an important role in our life. In my opinion, students
should be allowed to use mobile phones at school.
First of all, it is accessible (-> effortless) for students to attach (-> access) numerous tools and apps
which help them perceive their lecture more easily (= effortlessly). To be more specific at, school
sometimes requires far-reaching knowledge and remarkable skills of that question in order to
resolve it. Therefore, many apps on smartphones such as: Google, Cambridge collocation dictionary
or Photomath will serve as an effective tools for students.
Another upside worth mentioning of smartphones is good time management which is capable of
students attending school’s lessons on time. While gadgets cannot manage your time for you, you
will be able to do the right thing at the right time when you set deadlines, and you set an
accompanying alarm for the same. There is nothing that is more suitable than a smartphone to be
used as a convenient alarm which can easily carry out
Last but not least, some people said smartphones would constantly (= invariably) distract students
from studying. However, using smartphones help students to more concentrate on the lesson at
school. This is because of having

Given the prevalence of cell phones, numerous people cling to the belief that students should be
allowed to use these devices at school. From my perspective, the merits and demerits of using
mobile phones within the classroom are in equal measures.

On the one hand, on educational grounds, mobile phones provide students with answers for any
questions that quench their thirst for knowledge timely. For instance, students who are slow on the
uptake and cannot catch up with others can be saved from being inundated with theories by
googling the exercises. Additionally, assignments can be submitted online and students may get
instantaneous feedback and marks. Secondly, the burden of communication between parents and
students may be alleviated by mobile phones. Specifically, mobile phones aid students in staying in
touch with adults and receive assistance in time in case of emergency.

On the other hand, permitting students to use smartphones brings about several potential pitfalls.
Firstly, using mobile phones at school may stimulate students to commit acts of bullying. For
instance, pupils can make calls or send texts on school premises when they should be studying.
Figures indicate unequivocally that access to phones at schools enables students to send harassing
or threatening messages. Besides, these electrical gadgets can be inappropriately incorporated into
the learning environment. Specifically, smartphones may be extremely distracting and may put
students off their stride during the lessons. The fact shows that students are easily side-tracked and
may succumb to the irresistible lure that smartphones offer.

In conclusion, despite the indispensability of phones among students, these devices must be used
under supervision due to the distraction and violence they produce.

Nowadays, cell phones have become almost indispensable for students. However, a controversy has recently
arisen over whether the use of phones should be legitimized in classes. Although I agree that the usage of
mobile phones in educational institutions should be welcomed, it is a belief of mine that the prohibition of
cellular phones is laudable.

On the one hand, there is an array of reasons why educational academies should approve the use of cellular
phones. Firstly, abstemious use of this electronic device might alleviate the stress accumulated throughout a
stressful day of learning. For example, spending time in the cyberspace during break time can bring
relaxation to students, helping them recuperate from exhaustion. Secondly, mobile phones alleviate the
burden of communication between parents and students in urgent situations. Particularly, with the aid of
cellphones, students can contact their guardians instantaneously should an emergency occur.

On the other hand, despite allowing students to use phones in an educational milieu comes with its share of
problems. First and foremost, the mobile phone is one of the major sources of distraction for students.
Students are likely to be vulnerable to the various distractions prevalent on a phone and might waste a surfeit
of time on mobile phones to the detriment of studying. Furthermore, by using cellphones, academic
dishonesty is irrefutably viable. For instance, misconduct can be carried out since mobile phones might be
used to serve the purpose of communication between students.

In conclusion, despite the aforesaid benefits of providing instant contact and leisure, the use of cellphones in
schools needs proscribing forthwith in view of the distraction and dishonesty it produces.

- You’re making a nice effort to use a variety of vocabulary, but a number of the words are used incorrectly.

- Your position could be more nuanced, perhaps suggesting that cellphones should be allowed as long as their
use is monitored.
