I. SUMMARY
The study basically talked about the cau effects of Gestational diabetes mellitus, the consequences of GDM on the mother for a
short and long period of time. The authors claims are that GDm has a psychological effect that has a grave detrimental result to
the mother after childbirth for the mother and child. Thus proving the authors’ point that the correlation of these two is a one way
process, more of a cause and effect natured process.

III. NURSING IMPLICATIONS

A. To Nursing Practice
For the Nursing practice, the study helps us reflect on our judgement of the situation. adding to knowledge of the patient and
their psychological state, being able to create a more nourishing environment for our clients. Gicing proper empathy and care with
the addition of being able to validate misinformation, with scientific based facts and being homnest with our clients in order for
them to cope up easier to reality.

B. To Nursing Education

For student nurses ,this study shows that it is really important to be knowledgeable when it comes to the signs and
symptoms of different diagnosis. Like in this study it really did show the importance of knowing how to properly pin point
and classify similar symptoms to their real diagnosis, for us who are soon be assisting the obstetric providers, we should
consider GDM and psychological distress separate clinical entities. By practicing the obtained knowledge, we are taught, we
could easily explain the things that are happening to our patients. Relieving our patients from stress and anxiety, from not
knowing what is actually happening, helps them cope up better. Resulting to empowering individuals to live healthier lives
by improving their physical, mental, emotional and social health by increasing their knowledge and influencing their
attitudes about caring for their well-being.

C. To Nursing Research
With us considering GDM and psychological distress separate clinical entities, it does open us up to discussions that there
could be more diagnosis that do not go vice versa. The importance of obtaining proper clinical pathophysiology and its correlation
in different diagnosis.

IV. PERSONAL INSIGHTS

- I certainly do agree with the study, after further readings on the subject of GDM and behavioral distress, I did see the vast
majority of agreeable coincidences that the products could interplay and be enticed in one category. Through this research I did see
the importance of proper diagnosis and nurse and client relationship. It would always be important to validate our client’s fear and
stress with the side note of educating them properly, in order to reduce anxiety and help them understand the physiological process
that happened and might happen.
