Causes of Road Accidents

One of the causes of road accidents is due to the poor weather conditions
such as rain and floods. When it rains, the roads get slippery and muddy for
untarred roads. Some drivers care less about such weather conditions and if are
in a hurry will accelerate. When this happens, the slippery road and the car’s tire
come into contact. This may lead to accidents in one way or the other.
Also, some countries may be underdeveloped. This means that their level
of development may be low. Hence these countries may not be able to afford
the cost of road constructions allover the country. This may lead to untarred
roads in some areas of the country. Some roads may have potholes due to the
fact that they are untarred and this can cause road accidents.
In Saudi Arabia the motor vehicle is the main mean of transportation.
Over 65% of accidents occur because of vehicles travelling at excess speed or
drivers disobeying traffic signals (researchgate.net). Also, distracted drivers are
quietly causing a staggering amount of serious car accidents. A distracted driver
is a motorist that diverts his attention from the road, usually to talk on a cell
phone, send text message or eat food. In fact, drivers’ distractions are the
leading cause of most auto accident.
