INTRODUCTION

Polynomials are a combination of several terms that can be added, subtracted

or multiplied but not divided. They are one of the most basic algebraic
operations, and many algebra students may wonder why they need to bother
learning about them.

PHYSICS

The branch of science concerned with the nature and properties of matter and
energy. The subject matter of physics, distinguished from that of chemistry
and biology, includes mechanics, heat, light and other radiation, sound,
electricity, magnetism, and the structure of atoms. Physics extends well into
people’s everyday lives – imprisoning people within its forces.

Example:

The competition is near; Joshua is practicing for the track and field meet, He
ran 300m in 60 seconds. What was his average speed?
Formula:
V= d/t
Solution:
= 300m/60 sec. = 5 m/s
Example:

Charles and Xavier are making a bet on who is the fastest among them,
Charles ran 300m in 30 seconds. While Xavier ran 300m in 25 seconds. What
was their average speed?
Formula:
V= d/t
Solution:
Charles = 300m/30 sec. = 10m/s
Xavier = 300m/25 sec. =
12m/s
Xavier is faster than Charles

Example:

The Fun Run started at 6am, Joseph started to run when the go hint is said.
He ran 100m in 20 seconds. What was his average speed?
Formula:
V= d/t
Solution:
= 150m/20 sec. = 7.5m/s
FINANCIAL PLANNING

Polynomials can be use in financial planning. For instance, a Polynomial

equation can be used to figure the amount of interest that will accrue
for an initial deposit amount in an investment or savings account at a
given interest rate.

Example:

If a savings account with an initial deposit of 20,000 gains 10%

interest, then this polynomial equation shows the interest gained for
5 years: Interest = (20,000) (10%) (5). In this situation, the saving
account would accrue 8,000 pesos of interest during the five years.

Example:

If a savings account with an initial deposit of 20,000 gains 10%

interest, then this polynomial equation shows the interest gained for
3 years: Interest = (35,000) (6%) (3). In this situation, the saving
account would accrue 6,300 pesos of interest during the three years.

Example:

If a savings account with an initial deposit of 50,000 gains 5%

interest, then this polynomial equation shows the interest gained for
6 years: Interest = (50,000) (5%) (6). In this situation, the saving
account would accrue 15,000 pesos of interest during the six years.
HEALTH CARE

Polynomials can be used in health care such as nursing, psychiatric

and home-health aids use polynomial to determine schedules and keep
records of patient progress. People seeking employment in this areas
require a keen mathematical background using polynomial
computations.

Example:

Terry wants to know her medical dosage so she went to the hospital
and ask for a check-up.

Formula in Medical Dosage:

C= Concentration

T= time/hours
2
C= -0.05t +2t+2

Example: T= 1 hours
2
C= -0.05(1) +2(1) +2

C= -0.05(1) +2(1) +2

C= -0.5+2+2

Example:

Zach wants to know her medical dosage so she went to the hospital
and ask for a check-up.

Formula in Medical Dosage:

C= Concentration

T= time/hours
2
C= -0.05t +2t+2

Example: T= 2 hours
2
C= -0.05(2) +2(2) +2 C= -0.05(4) +2(2) +2

C= -0.2+4+2

C= 5.8

Example:

Gunther wants to know her medical dosage so she went to the hospital
and ask for a check-up.

Formula in Medical Dosage:

C= Concentration

T= time/hours
2
C= -0.05t +2t+2

Example: T= 3 hours

C= -0.05(3) +2(3) +2 C= -0.05(9) +2(3) +2

C= -4.5+6+2
