Evidence: The tennis tournament

Imagine you are arranging a trip to nearby city for a tennis tournament next
Saturday. You want your best friend to go with you, but, she/he has a very busy
schedule and needs to return by Sunday.

For this evidence, you will need to complete three parts. For the first part (A), you
need to have a look of the information about the tournament. For part B, you have
to plan a schedule for the day and write it down. Finally, for part C, you will write
an email to your friend persuading her/him to come with you.

Let’s begin!

Part A

Have a look of the Colombia International Tennis Open official website. Then,
read the order of play, which is the official schedule for games that has been

Part B

For this part of the evidence, you need to write a schedule for the day in which
you consider the following aspects.

• Commuting: You live in a different city. Consider the transportation means

you will be using for getting to Bogota and register the time you will be arriving.
The same instruction applies for considering your return to your home city /
town.

• Transportation: Consider the time you will be moving from the train station,
bus station, or airport, to the Salitre Tennis Center. The same instruction
applies your return to the place from which you are departing (airport, train
station, etc.).

• Food: Consider the times of the day in which you will be having breakfast,
lunch and dinner. (You can also include some time for snacks in between
games if you wish so).

• Games: Based on the order of play and your personal interests, decide which
games you will be attending and include those in your schedule.

• Accommodation (optional): This applies only if you have considered staying

in Bogota and arriving to you home town or city on early Sunday morning.

Now, write your schedule. One example has been done for you.

Part C

For this part of the evidence, you need to write an email to you best friend in which
you describe your plan in detail. Your idea is to persuade and convince her/him
to come and join you. Consider the following:

• You friend needs to be back home by 9:00 a.m., Sunday morning.

• Your friend is not a big fan of tennis, but you are, so, you need to include
interesting details about the players, the games and the tournament.
• Use the schedule to demonstrate how you will have done a lot of activities
during the day. For this purpose, you need to use the future perfect tense; for
example: By 5:00 a.m. we will have left home.
Now, write you email. Be as creative as possible.

Hi Andrés!

Did you remember I told you about the tennis tournament?

The next weekend is the tournament inSalitre´s tennis center. I know you are not
a big fan and you have a very busy schedule and you need to return by Sunday.
But this opportunity is amused and incredible; I know you will have loved this
sport.

I already have made the schedule, by 5:00 a.m we will have left home, we will
have arrived train station at 6:00 a.m because we need to arrive to the city at 8:30
a.m. Do not worry about breakfast; there is an excellent place to breakfast near
the station of the city.

By the time we have taken the breakfast, we are going to take the bus to the
tennis center, we are going to arrive before to watch the all event, it is very
interesting because there are many things to do, and you will have been excited.
By 12:45 p.m we will have arrived to the court1 (boy´s singles-final), we are going
to see Manuel Giraldo! The best Colombian tennis player, he is 25 years old; that
will be amazing.

By 3:00 p.m we will have started to watch the Senior gentlemen´s doubles-final,
I you will have loved this match because it is played as a couple, where
teamwork is shown. Immediately the match is over, we will have taken the lunch
in the restaurant Luigi´s because I know you like Italian´s food.

By 7:45 p.m we will have arrived to the court 1 again, the match of the lady’s
singles is the last match and for me the best match, it is an interest game

because Jalen and Samantha have a rivalry since they were girls, they are very
competitive friends, I know you will have been excited.

I already made the reservation at the hotel, so we will have had a place to rest.
Finally we will have left the hotel at 5:00a.m, so that we are backing home on
time. I know we will have been exhausted but this trip will be satisfactory.

See you next weekend.
