Hi guys, I’m sure of you have an experience of driving a car.

Ever wonder how you’re able to steer the

wheel with very little effort even though the tire’s of a car is heavy? It is because of the technology
called power steering. What I’m going to talk about now is the latest innovation of the power steering
and it is called Electric power steering. The Electric Power Steering or EPS compared to the conventional
Hydraulic power steering has 4 main components that work up to the whole system. It has an electric
motor, a sensor, and ecu, and a reduction gear. Unlike the conventional type of steering which has
hydraulic fluids and various components that uses the pressurized hydraulic fluid to counter the weight
of the car to assist with the steering as the driver turns the steering wheel, the EPS works by using the
Sensor that uses the vehicle’s speed which is then analyze by the ECU or ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT in
order for it to determine how much assist is needed by the driver when turning or maneuvering the
steering wheel. The result of that is a better driving experience and a much less effort that could strain
your body when driving long distance. The electric motor of the EPS has also been used to add as a
safety feature to aid the driver. One example is the lane keeping assist that nudge the vehicle back in
the lane if the driver inadvertently drifts over the line. Thank you for listening and have a nice day.
