I am writing to recommend Ryan Richardson for a teaching position at your school for the
upcoming year. Ryan is a hardworking and dedicated teacher, and would be huge asset to your
school music program. I had the pleasure of serving as Ryan’s cooperating teacher for his student
teaching experience from January-March 2021 at Eagle Ridge Middle School in Ashburn, VA.

During his time at Eagle Ridge, Mr. Richardson was able to experience teaching three levels of
middle school band in a challenging virtual environment- 6th, 7th and 8th grade. Ryan had a strong
understanding of the unique challenges of each grade and developed lesson plans to meet the
needs of each individual student. A particular area of strength was his ability to make
connections with students that aided in his effectiveness as a teacher. In addition, Ryan partnered
with parents to help students create meaningful contributions to our school community. Lastly, I
was particularly impressed with his ability to use formal and informal assessments to develop
future lessons that kept all students engaged in differing ability levels.

Mr. Richardson’s passion for teaching and music will make him an excellent choice for a
position at your school. Ryan will continue to engage his students and partner with parents and
