North America has

approximately 1,000
waterparks, which offer
fun activities for visitors of
all ages.

Waterparks have increased in popularity since the 1940s and feature water slides, "lazy rivers," kids playgrounds and other opportunities for water fun.
According to the World Waterpark Association, attendance in the 2006 summer season was estimated at 78 million, but that amount covers the United
States, Canada and Mexico. The attendance growth of waterparks averages 3 to 5 percent per year. Whether you want to go to a waterpark to enjoy
waterslides or just sit by the pool, you may want choose from among some of the best waterparks in America.

Walt Disney Waterpark

Walt Disney World offers two waterparks in Florida, which include Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Typhoon Lagoon offers a children's water area with
small rafts and waterslides. Visitors also have an opportunity to enjoy the 6-foot surf pool or snorkel with tropical fish, bonnethead sharks and tropical fish in
the coral reef. All equipment is provided at no charge, but children under the age of 10 need a parent or guardian to accompany them. The waterpark
consists of nine slides, some with almost complete vertical drops. It also offers restaurants, an outdoor bar and two picnic areas.

Blizzard Beach has a snow-castle fountain, free-falling slides and even the world's largest water slide. Based on the attendance report in 2007, attendance
for the two parks was approximated at 4 million.
