※ The Architectural and Urban Systems Engineering Major in the ELTEC College of Engineering has
been accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea(ABEEK). Upon entering
the program, all students will be enrolled in the "Accreditation Program" and details pertaining to its
completion or changes will be subject to the program’s bylaws(subject to change according to the
result of the accreditation evaluation and conditions of the department).
※ The College of Nursing has received accreditation by the Korean Accreditation Board of Nursing
Education for its undergraduate program. Thus, students in the College of Nursing will automatically
be participating in the "accreditation program" immediately upon entry.
※ The College of Business Administration has been accredited by the Korea Association of Business
Education Accreditation through its accreditation evaluation. In addition, the College has acquired
Business Accreditation (valid until 2025) by the Association to Advance Collegiate School of
Business(AACSB) three consecutive times.

* Application to Basic Medical Science majors(from 'Anatomy' to 'Occupational and Environmental
Medicine' in the above list) is open to all candidates, including those who have not graduated from
the College of Medicine at the undergraduate level.
* Medical Science is a full-time department and Basic Medical Science majors in Medicine may not be
operated full-time.
* Tuition for 'Medical Science' and 'Medicine' may differ.
** Combined Masters and Doctoral programs in departments/majors marked with a double asterisk are not
open for application (International Office Administration, Integrated Art Therapy, Fashion Industry, Dance).

Ⅲ. Eligibility
To be eligible to apply, applicants must meet all the requirements below.

1. Nationality: Non-Korean*
※ To be eligible to apply through this admissions process, applicants and their parents must be nationals
(i.e. passport holders) of a country other than Korea.
※ Korean nationals with dual or multiple nationalities are not eligible to apply; this applies to the applicant
and both parents.
※ Applicants who have acquired non-Korean nationality after birth are eligible only if the applicant and both
parents have acquired the non-Korean nationality prior to the applicant’s enrollment in educational
curriculum equivalent to the high school curriculum in Korea.
※ Ewha Womans University accepts applications from female applicants only.
※ Applicants who themselves and their parents are of Korean origin or have acquired non-Korean
nationality after birth must submit additional documents that verify a) the renunciation of Korean
nationality and b) the date the non-Korean nationality was acquired.
※ Any document verifying the divorce or death of parent(s)
→ In the case where an applicant’s parents are divorced, the applicant’s nationality eligibility is
determined by the nationality of the legal guardian (father/mother).

2. Education: Applicants to each program must meet the academic requirements below
Programs Eligibility

Applicants who have graduated or are expected to graduate from high


school before March 2021.
Under- Freshman ※ GED, Korean High school Graduate Equivalency Test, home
schooling, cyber schooling, or other high school equivalency certificates
graduate are not considered as high school diploma.
Program
Applicants who have completed or are expected to complete at least 2
Transfer academic years in a university degree program before March 2021, and
intend to transfer into the third year.
Master’s, Applicants who have completed a four-year university program or its
Combined Master’s equivalent and have acquired or are expected to acquire a Bachelor’s
Graduate
and Doctoral degree before March 2021.

4. Additional Requirements for Graduate Program Applicants

A. Law
The Combined Master’s and Doctoral Program in Law is only open to applicants with at least 3 years of
legal practice experience.
B. Nursing Science
The Master’s Programs in Gerontological Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse, and
Advanced Clinical Nursing majors are only open to applicants with at least 3 years of clinical experience
in each respective field.
C. Medicine
- Programs in Clinical Medicine majors (excluding the basic medical science majors) are only open to
applicants who have graduated from the College of Medicine
- Programs in Dental Medicine are only open to applicants who have graduated from the College of
Dentistry
D. Early Childhood Education
- The Doctoral degree program in Educational Administration in Early Childhood is only open to applicants
who are currently working in a field related to early childhood education

Ⅳ. Selection Process

1. Selection Process: Applicants will be selected through a comprehensive evaluation of their


academic capability, achievements, and potential, based on their submitted documents.
※ Some applicants may be contacted individually for an interview.

2. Application Fee: The application fee is 150,000 Korean Won (or USD $150).
※ Applicants must make a payment when they submit their online application.

A. The commission for the online application process is paid by Ewha Womans University.

B. The application cannot be cancelled once it has been submitted and the application fee is
nonrefundable. However, if a judgment is made by admissions related committees of
Ewha Womans University that there was an unavoidable reason(natural disaster,
negligence of the admissions agency, or other reasons not attributable to the applicant),
some or all of the application fee may be refunded.

C. Pursuant to Article 34-4 paragraph 5 of the Higher Education Act, should there be any
amount left over after all expenditures related to admission screening have been
subtracted from income related thereto, it may be returned in proportion to the
application fee.

Ⅶ. Important Information for Applicants

General Information for All Applicants


1. Applicants may be contacted individually by phone or email for additional documents if
necessary. Therefore, it is important that applicants provide an accurate phone number
and email address at which they can be directly reached. Ewha Womans University will
not be responsible for any disadvantages caused by providing incorrect contact
information.

2. Any matter not specified in this admissions guide with regard to the university’s special
admissions process for international applicants shall be settled pursuant to the decision of
admissions related committees of Ewha Womans University.

3. Details of the selection process and scores will not be disclosed.

4. If a misrepresentation is discovered during the application process, or the applicant is

found to have made any alterations to the application materials (including those submitted
by a proxy) or perpetrated any type of fraud, the applicant will be denied admission. If the
applicant has already registered, they will be asked to leave the University. This applies
even if the fraudulence has had no immediate effect on the applicant’s admission. Any
and all such applicants whose admission has been revoked due to this issue will be
prohibited from reapplying in the future.

5. In case of discrepancies between the Korean version of this admissions guide and English
or Chinese versions, the Korean version shall prevail.

1. Submission of Statement of Intent to Register


A. According to Applicants with the intent to enroll must submit the Statement of Intent to
Register by the designated date (to be announced).
B. The following procedures for entrance will be open only to applicants who have submitted
the Statement of Intent to Register.
※ A verification email will be sent to applicants who have submitted the Statement of Intent to Register.
Applicants who do not receive the email should contact the International Student Affairs Team.

2. Health Insurance Requirements


A. According to the policy of the Ministry of Education pursuant to the revision of the
Enforcement Rule of the National Health Insurance Act, international students shall be
subject to mandatory subscription to Korean National Health Insurance as of March 2021.
B. Foreigners subscribed to the National Health Insurance (local plan) must pay the monthly
insurance premium in advance by the 25th of the previous month. Failure to make the
payment may result in restrictions in residence permit, such as visa extensions.
C. International students must maintain health insurance coverage during the period of their
enrollment at Ewha.
D. Further information will be announced later to enrolled students.

3. Tuition Payment
A. Admitted applicants with the intent to enroll must make the tuition payment during the
designated period(in January~February, 2021) to the designated bank account.
B. Applicants who have received acceptance letters from more than one university in Korea,
must choose only one university. Violation of this will result in revocation of admission.

4. Submission of Additional Documents for Admitted Applicants


A. Conditionally (language) accepted applicants must submit their TOPIK score reports or

ELC Certificate of Completion (Korean Intensive program Level 4) by the designated
date(to be announced). Admission shall be rescinded should applicants fail to submit the
final test score report on time or fail to meet the language proficiency requirements.
B. Applicants who were not able to submit academic documents issued by foreign institutes
(transcripts, enrollment, graduation certificates) with apostille, Consulate certification, or
certification report by the Chinese Ministry of Education during the document submission
period must submit them by the designated date(in January, 2021) after being notified of
the admissions results.
C. Applicants who have submitted the Certificate of Prospective Diploma upon online
application must submit the Certificate of Diploma to Ewha Womans University by
February 28, 2021.

5. Certificate of Admission and Study Abroad Visa


A. A Certificate of Admission will be issued to those who have submitted the “Statement of
Intent to Register” and have completed tuition payment.
B. Applicants must individually apply for a Study Abroad Visa or for a change to a Study Abroad Visa.
C. The status of sojourn allowed to study in Korea is determined pursuant to the guidelines
of Korea Immigration Service, which are subject to change and may vary depending on
each individual's situation. Thus, please make sure to individually check with Korea
Immigration Service.

6. Housing Information
A. Applicants can apply for entrance to on-campus housing when submitting the Statement
of Intent to Register.
B. Rooms will be assigned on a first-come-first-served basis on submission of the
Statement of Intent to Register. Availability of entrance will be individually notified during
the registration period.

7. Orientation for Incoming Students and Course Registration


There will be an orientation for incoming international students and course registration at the
end of February, 2021.

8. Start of Semester and Medical Check-up


2021 incoming students are required to do a medical check-up administered by Ewha
Womans University Health Service Center (scheduled for the beginning of each semester). If
the student is found to have an intractable disease or physical defect that may interfere with
her academic performance, she must comply with the university’s decision to take a leave of
absence or to make other arrangements.

2. Qualifications for Entry


Successful applicants selected through the special admissions process for international applicants
for Spring 2021
※ The International Student Affairs Team offers assistance to first year international students applying
for prior entrance to the dormitory, as well as makes all efforts to secure and assign dormitory
rooms for those who wish to live on-campus. However, some prior entrance applications may be
declined depending on the availability of rooms.
※ Guaranteed occupancy duration for prior entrants is maximum 1 year(2021 Spring/2021 Summer/2021
Fall/2021 Winter). When applying for prior entrance, applicants must indicate their housing preference
for the 2021 Spring/2021 Summer/2021 Fall/2021 Winter terms on the application.
※ Residence for 2021-Spring and 2021-Fall is required; residence for Summer and Winter is optional.
※ Notes:
① Please be careful when selecting the occupancy duration as there is no separate application period
for summer and winter housing.
② If an applicant moves out during their residency period in 2021 Spring, their approval for the
remaining period (summer/fall/winter) will automatically be rescinded. They may apply again as a
non-resident for the summer/fall/winter.
③ If an applicant cancels her 2021-summer residence application, she cannot apply for the 1st round

in 2022 Spring (she can apply from the 2nd round instead)
④ 2021 Spring move-in information(Due dates, fees and others) is subject to change in response to
the impact of COVID-19, and thus all applicants are required to check the housing website
(http://my.ewha.ac.kr/engdorm) frequently for the most up-to-date announcements

3. Application Procedures and Result Notification


Applicants should indicate on the Statement of Intent to Register whether they wish to apply
for prior entrance → Rooms will be assigned on a first-come-first-served basis on
submission of the Statement of Intent to Register (announced via personal e-mail around
early February 2021) → entrance
※ All rooms are assigned by a computerized lottery system.
- Undergraduate : single/double/triple/quad room
- Graduate : single/double/triple room

4. Notes
A. E-house is a suite-style dormitory; there are single/double/triple/quad rooms in 4-10 person suites
with their own living room, bathroom and shower room (graduate: single/twin/triple rooms)

B. Undergraduates are subject to regular room inspection and a curfew (Graduate students are exempt)
※ Curfew: 24:00(midnight) ~ 05:00
C. The dormitories are a shared living space where diversity issues, such as noise, communication
problems exist. Please be mindful of these differences and treat everyone with respect.
D. Housing staff (male) may access rooms or common areas for facility inspection and
maintenance.
