- dual cell user is counted as a separate user in each of the two cells
- the active time refers to the scheduled TTIs, i.e. when sending data. The throughput is looked at from MAC-d layer,
i.e. how much MAC-d level data the HSDSCH is able to successfully transfer to UEs using the scheduled TTIs, so this
considers also the MAC-hs efficiency.
- when aggregated per BTS and higher this KPIs is still showing average Cell throughput for all Cells.

RAN1642: MIMO
Introduction to the feature:
• MIMO with 16QAM enables 28Mbit/s peak HSDPA data rate
• increases single user peak data rate, overall cell capacity, and average cell throughput.
• Functional description
2x2 MIMO single user (SU) is considered with two transmit antennas at the BTS and two receive antennas at the UE
• Single stream and dual stream modes
- in case of single stream, the same block of data is transmitted by the BTS using two Tx antennas with a different
- antenna pre-coding for each of them (redundancy)
- in case of dual stream, two different blocks of data are transmitted from both antennas at the same time using the
- orthogonal antenna pre- coding for the two blocks:
- the HSDPA peak data rate is doubled as result of the operation of two parallel data streams
- theoretical maximum data rate with 16QAM is 28 Mbit/s.
- terminal categories 15, 16, 17,18, 19 and 20 are capable of 2x2 DL MIMO with 16QAM
- the maximum theoretical throughput of 28 Mbit/s (MIMO + 16QAM) requires the use of coding rates close to 1, that is
- used for an error free reception.

MIMO: RAN 1642
• RU20 (3GPP Rel. 7) introduces 2x2 MIMO with 2-Tx/2-Rx
– Double Transmit on BTS side (D-TxAA), 2 receive antennas on UE side
– System can operate in dual stream (MIMO) or single (SISO, non-MIMO) mode
• MIMO 2x2 enables 28 Mbps peak data rate in HSDPA WBTS: 2 Tx-
– 28 Mbps peak rate in combination with 16QAM antennas
– 64QAM: no simultaneous support of 64QAM & MIMO (not yet)
– Dual-Cell HSDPA: not possible to enable MIMO & DC-HSDPA in a cell in parallel
• MIMO increases single user peak data rate, overall cell capacity &
average cell throughput

Overall Feature Concept
Upgrade steps
• From SC HSDPA first DC HSDPA for the UE is introduced
• Once F1 (primary cell) and F2 (secondary serving HS cell) are setup, MIMO SS or DS can be
introduced for UE either on F1 or both on F1 and F2
• The MIMO modes SS / DS can be selected for each carrier independently
• Lastly, if channel conditions allow, 64 QAM can be introduced for the UE

Dual Cell Concept – Combination with MIMO
• HS-DSCH
• 2 HS-DSCH used, one on each carrier
• For MIMO on both these carriers
• For dual stream, 2 transport blocks are sent per TTI on each HS-DSCH (i.e. altogether 4 TBs)
• For single stream, 1 transport block is sent per TTI on each HS-DSCH (i.e. altogether 2 TBs)
• Virtual antenna concept can be used again to avoid degraded performance for non-MIMO /
non-DC HSDPA users in DC HSDPA + MIMO cells
• HS-SCCH
• Each DL carrier has its own HS-SCCH set, allowing separate scheduling between the
carriers in a similar way as for DC HSDPA
• 3GPP HS-SCCH type 3 used

Interference Situation - RU20 and RU30
RU20
• Users with low level services (usually with 10ms TTI) strongly interfered by
users with high level services (usually with 2ms TTI)
RU30
• Interference contribution of 2ms TTI users subtracted from total signal
arriving at BTS before demodulating and decoding the signals of 10ms TTI
users
• Less power needed by 10ms TTI users due to cancelled interference of 2ms TTI
users
• 2ms TTI users less interfered by 10ms TTI users due to lower power
• Optionally interference contribution of individual 2ms TTI users subtracted
before demodulating and decoding other 2ms TTI users

Interference Cancellation Concept - Basic
Types of users
• IC users
• Users whose interference contribution is cancelled from the total signal
• Users mapped on E-DCH with 2ms TTI (usually those with highest power)
• Do not get any direct benefit from interference cancellation
• Non-IC users
• Users for which interference is reduced, as the contribution of the non IC users is cancelled from the total
signal
• Remaining users mapped on E-DCH with 2ms TTI (usually such ones with lower power)
• All 10ms TTI E-DCH users
• All DCH users

Interference Cancellation Concept - Basic
Parallel interference cancellation PIC
• Total UL signal received with rake receiver or frequency domain equalizer
• Turbo decoding to obtain (strongest) 2 ms TTI E-DCH signals
• Decoded data used to reconstruct original 2 ms TTI signals (= interferers for other users)
Reconstruction includes turbo encoding, spreading and modulation
• Cancel interference from (strongest) 2 ms TTI user: Reconstructed signals are summed up and
subtracted from the original total antenna signal ⇒ non-IC users’ signal (residual signal)
• Individual non-IC user signals demodulated on the residual signal, benefiting from lower
interference level ⇒ improving cell coverage and capacity

AdminPICState
Description With this parameter it is possible to change the PIC state of a cell from Disabled to
Enabled or Automatic. There may be restriction in WBTS for changing the PICState.
If the change is not possible, then the PICState remains unchanged. Parameter WCEL-PICState
indicates the PICState of the cell.

HSUPA IC Receiver feature can be activated in BTS by the commissioning parameter ‘picPool’.
HSUPA IC Receiver Feature Characteristics
- BTS Manager allows the operator to commission the HSUPA IC Receiver feature to BTS using commissioning
parameter ‘picPool’’.
- BTS supports maximum 4 PIC pools.
- A PIC pool is a collection of cells, in which IC is configured. A PIC pool supports up to 6 cells, which are candidates
for IC, with each cell having up to 2 antennas.
- Dedicated resource block is allocated for a PIC pool - see BTS Baseband in Dimensioning WCDMA RAN: Flexi
BTS Baseband and Dimensioning WCDMA RAN: Ultra BTS baseband documents.
- BTS Manager sends the PIC Pool Configuration to BTS.
- All cells mapped to a PIC pool must be a part of the same LCG.
- There are 3 PIC states for each cell in a PIC pool: ‘active’, ‘deactivated’ and ‘automatic’. The PIC states of the
cells in a PIC pool are configured by RNC. Initially all the cells in a PIC pool are in ‘deactivated’ state.
- BTS applies IC to a cell with PIC state ‘active’.
- BTS does not apply IC to a cell with PIC state ‘deactivated’.
- BTS applies IC to a cell with PIC state ‘automatic’ depending on the number of cells with PIC state ‘active’ in the
same PIC pool.
- BTS supports maximum 3 cells with IC per PIC pool, with each cell having up to 2 antennas.
- BTS supports HSUPA IC with activated FDE in the same cell at the same time.

RAN2509: Application Aware RAN – new in RU40 1/2
• introduces dynamic service or application prioritization for HSPA scheduling
• prioritization is done dynamically between bearers, according to the service actually used in a bearer
• introduces dynamic prioritization of UL traffic for single NRT RAB users
The dynamic SPI priority change in the BTS comprises the following new functions:
• dynamic change of HSDPA scheduling priority for each MAC-d priority queue
• dynamic change of HSUPA scheduling priority together with DL priority
• reflecting dynamically changed priority by modifying radio interface credit allocations, for both
cases: non-congested or congested radio interface
