INTERNSHIP

During these one week I had been thinking about my internship and
where to go. I did some research and phoned some of the company but
they deny it. I wanted to do something about marketing so I look forward to
the company that sells products or services.

Decided to go to Bridgestone (A.C.T) and apply the form to the


company with my friends.

They reply and sent a document about our personal information and
signature about internship

Day 1​ - 20/10/2019

Today is the first day of my internship. I was well prepared and was
early on time. As soon as we reached the company our supervisor came
and introduced himself and the other staff to us. His name is Mr. York, later
on he explained some of the work at the store to us but not in detail yet. He
led the way to the meeting room and explained what we will be doing for 6
day and what we will be getting from these 6 days. He was very well
planned including schedule and assisted the staff for each day that would
be taking care of us. Afterward he again introduced himself and his job in
the company. I was very surprised that he was a head of a department
cause I wouldn't think that the company would have a head of department
to supervise us, he was very friendly and caring. And talkative he then
explained why he chose to work with this company and what the purpose of
his job role. We had a 15 min break then the first session started,

The main goal for the morning session is to learn about the company
(Bridgestone A.C.T) and a bit of its history. I found it was very interesting
how they started the company and the way they expanded their branches.
Later on it was the introduction of car care service, how many steps for
each type of car check up and the way to talk to the customers is very
important. After he finished the ppt, he showed us around the store and left
us a question to think of “why do you think we design our front reception in
this way and why do we put the banner in this direction, and how can we
improve it?” after looking around and explaining what each machine is for
we went back to the meeting room. And ask us about the answer to the
question, after we answer he points out some facts and what he likes about
our opinion/ idea. I felt that he was very interested in our opinion and alway
listened to it very carefully. Then it was lunch break.

After lunch break, the session started to get more into detail. It was about
store operation and basic product knowledge like type of car tire, service
and car suspension.
He then showed us a model and name part of the tire. He came up with
some game for us to play like naming or even matching game but all are
related to the car part. So that the end of day one.

Day 2​ - 21/10/2019

Today the company had an orientation program for the new staff, so
we attended it and listened to the lecture. They explain about the staff
policy and their welfare, how it will change each year depending on your
working year the longer it is the better the welfare will be. Some history of
the founder and its branches in other countries were also the topic they
spoke about. I wasn’t really into it because our superviser already spoke
about it on the first day. 20 min break. Afterward they explain to each
manager in each department and how they help each other to create a
good company and how their work is related, to help each other.

Launch break.

The afternoon session, we continued the lecture but it was mainly about
A.C.T business overview, organization & store work.

Day 3​ - 22/10/2019

Today we had to go to the A.C.T head office, which is quite far away
so he left early. As soon as we reached the office we started the session,
the main purpose of the morning session was safety and regulation. The
person that would be looking after us today is Miss. Suparat she was very
friendly and still young. So we were able to feel more comfortable with her
and she alway cracked some jokes. Later on we were having a small
workshop on safety like which type of car check we had to wear in order to
keep it safe and how to wear/ use it to make it more effective. It was very
fun. We had a lot of games, one of the games was picking a chit. like a
person needs to pick a chits, in the chits it will say what type of check up it
is and we had to pick the correct safety-wear. Then it was a 30min break.
Then it was about company regulation, she talked about how to keep the
company image and how to talk to the customer if you are doing business
inorder to keep the company going. And how it is very important to treat all
the customers equally, everthrough if they came for a small check up or
just asking for advice. Furthermore, then came the most important part of a
business that is after-service, she told us that the research said that this is
one the most important factor for customer loyalty. Whether they could
come back to take our service again.

Launch break.
The afternoon session was about safety activity. We continue to play some
more games and actually wear the safety-wear. It was very funny because
all of us don't know how to wear it correctly and it was a mess at the
beginning. This session was mainly about wearing it.

Day 4​ - 23/10/2019

Today we went back to the A.C.T store. The morning session was
mainly about work instruction, and look around the servicing part of the
store like how to function each machine and how the staff use it, also how
they fix and repair the car part. Even how to change some parts of the car. I
found it pretty hard to fix a car if you don't have any knowledge to cause it
might create a big mess in the future. So therefore we tend not to disturb
the worker and touch anything till the staff told us to. That it for the morning
session

Lunch break.

The afternoon session was pretty fun and messy. We got to change the car
part but only after looking at the demo. The supervisors were very carefully
observing us and alway had the instruction beforehand. We were able to
learn which type of car tire is suitable for each type of climate and usage.
Then he told us to change the car tire by yourself at first it was very hard
and after giving it some more tries it wasn't hard at all. Actually it was very
fun cause each type of car tires had a different to put it in. With the help of
the machines it was way faster and easier. Afterward it was a cleaning and
rolling used car tire to the store room.

Day 5 ​- 24/10/2019
The 5th day is the most difficult day because today is the training day.
Both morning and afternoon sessions. He told us to clean the old car wheel
in order to repair it, cause there would be dust. Afterward we had to change
the wheel the day as yesterday, it was the 4 of us so it took quite a bit of
time for each task. And the supervisor also had to make sure it was
properly fixed. We did it 2-3 times each to get used to it. And then we went
to watch the staff using the pressure machines for the car tire. The machine
looked very normal but it was over a million baths so I was pretty surprised
and it was very small and plain. Each activity took around 1-2 hour, he then
explained why using humans is better than the full 100% functioning
machine, it was a pretty long explanation. Later on we went to try some
other machines like lifting machines and rotating machines. It was pretty
fun to try and play with these machines cause i think it is not easy to have
another chance to use these cause it is a very expensive and only specific
store can have it so it was very interesting to me.

As soon as we come back from lunch, we continue our training, we look at


the old oil transferring and other car systems like is there enough electricity
in the battery or whether there is a problem with the system by using
computers and other devices. Then later on our supervisor told us to
change his car wheel, not actually change it but take it out properly and put
it back after full check up. So he could see our progress and if we actually
understand the step or not. My friends and I pass it very easily and fast.
Cause we had done it many times. Then we went to talk to the staff about
more-in detail about each machine.

Today was fast and fun because we were able to try many different new
things. And actually work like the staff worker there.

Day 6​ - 25/10/2019
Today we head back to the head office. Today morning's session we
learned about the marketing overview and its marketing strategy. He was
talking about how each month the company needs to come up with a new
promotion and how that promotion can increase its sales and also how can
the poster impact the sales. And what are the strategies they would be
choosing each month to make the business flow smoothly. It was very
interesting for my friend and I because all of us are marketing students and
we could catch up with what the supervisor was saying even though some
were very specific marketing terms, we could answer his question and
actually focus with what he was saying.

Lunch break.

Afternoon session was about the summary of what we had done and what
we had learned from each day/ activity. He also spoke about the career
opportunity and what the life of working would be. Then he evaluated each
of us one by one, later on was picture time.
Reflection

Internships or projects are necessary for MUIDS students in order for


them to graduate. It took quite a bit of time for me to think which one to
choose and I chose an internship because I think that it would be more fun
and interesting to actually try to work and how to do it. At first I wasn't really
having enough time to think of where to go because most of the private
companies don't take a high schooler as an intern so therefore I went with
my friend to Bridgestone (A.C.T) corporation. I think that I did the right thing
to go with my friend, if i had gone alone I would feel very uncomfortable. My
friends and I choose to do the internship over the October break to finish it
as soon as possible, so we don’t need to worry about our academic
afterard. The reason we chose this company is because one of us, family
works in the car repairing industry and the rest of us would be able to learn
about their marketing tequinc & strategy. It would help us to gain more
knowledge cause all of us are marketing students.

Everyday of internship isn’t easy at all because you would be learning new
things every day and actually work like an adult, and it was very
challenging and it is a lot of responsibility. I had learned about how to
communicate inorder for the listener to understand what I'm trying to say. I
feel that while doing an internship many of my skills develop like talking,
how to talk to an adult or how or ask someone to do you a favor. Manners
play a very big role when it comes to business when no have no manner on
one would like to work with you. I have noticed this any time during an
internship. Other skills like thinking of a new idea, our supervisor also ask
us about our opinion of the company because he thinks that the old thing
needs to change due to the change in the generation and the technology
such as social media plays a bigger role than books, newspapers, and TV.
I think that these skills will help me in the future and I will keep developing it
even more.
On the last day we were able to learn about marketing and it was very
important to me because i still haven't decided what major to take during
my college and by doing an internship i could see the way as a marketer
work whether i will like it or not, it has a lot of meaning to me. At the
beginning the night before the internship day i thought that it would be
pretty chill just sitting and looking at the staff working but actually no, we
had to work and learn. I actually like it more than just sitting and looking at
other people working. It would be very boring.

In conclusion, my internship went really well and better than I thought it


would be. I felt that many skills of mine had developed more and I could
see the different way of thinking about business. It is not easy to finish one
job, it takes a lot of effort and time. Knowing new people also helps me to
improve my communication skill and I think it is the most important one.
Therefore this internship taught me many things that needed in my future
life, and how to keep it continuing to develop.
