Most Essential Learning Competency (MELC)

Apply mitigation strategies to prevent loss of lives and properties

Good day!

For several weeks of discussions, you have gained an understanding of the

concepts of disasters, hazards, hydrometeorological and geological hazards and
you clearly understand what precautionary safety measures we need to do when
hazards occur.

To make meaning of all the concepts learned, you’re going to accomplish your Major
Performance Task which is an infographic. Are you ready? Let’s get started!

The common definition of infographic is it is simply described as a visual

representation of information and data. By combining elements of text, images,
diagrams and chart, an infographic is an effective tool to present data and explain
complex issues in a way that can quickly lead to insight and better understanding.
An infographic is:
1. A data-rich visualization of story
2. A tool to educate and inform
3. A way to build brand awareness

In connection to this, according to Jaime Serra, one of the most influential designers
in the world for the past two decades- an infographic is a form of communication that
uses visual languages that are complementary, part of a whole, and therefore can’t be
understood when separate. The term “infographics” has expanded to many industries
in the past decade, becoming a powerful communication tool for businesses,
governments, and educational institutions.

Example of infographics:

Reflection:

The most exciting part of doing the infographic was gaining

enough knowledge, having creativity and exerting effort on how
to make the Precautionary and Safety Measures Before, During
and After Geological hazards like Earthquake. I believe that
infographics are used as a powerful tool to allow people to
easily digest information through the use of visual data, charts,
Congratulations! You made it!
