ACTIVITY NO. 1
Introduction to Computer Graphics and Visual Computing

Research Work:

1. What is rendering?

Is the process of generating a photorealistic or non-photorealistic image from

a 2D or 3D model by means of a computer program. The resulting image is referred to as
the render. Multiple models can be defined in a scene file containing objects in a strictly
defined language or data structure. The scene file contains geometry, viewpoint, tex-
ture, lighting, and shading information describing the virtual scene.

2. Give at least three examples of movies that made use of computer animation.
3. Give at least 5 examples of graphics editing software and 5 examples of animation
software.

Graphics editing software: Animation software:

➢ Adobe Photoshop ➢ Animaker

➢ Adobe Illustrator ➢ Blender
➢ GIMP ➢ K-3D
➢ CorelDraw ➢ OpenToonz
➢ PaintShop pro ➢ Pencil2D Animation

4. What is the difference between Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality? Give an ex-
ample for each.

Augmented reality (AR) adds digital elements to a live view often by using the camera

on a smartphone. Examples of augmented reality experiences include Snapchat lenses

and the game Pokémon Go.

Virtual reality (VR) implies a complete immersion experience that shuts out the physical

world. Using VR devices such as HTC Vive, Oculus Rift or Google Cardboard, users can

be transported into a number of real-world and imagined environments such as the

middle of a squawking penguin colony or even the back of a dragon.
