Procedure text is a kind of text that is designed to describe how something is achieved, made, or
done through a sequence of steps or actions. Procedure Text can be in form of
 Recipe How to make something usually food and drink.
 Manual How to use or operate something mainly electronic devices
 Tips How to be something.
 Guide How to get somewhere.
 Rule How to do something, such in games.

Social Function/Communicative Purpose

To explain the readers the steps to do something

Generic Structure
 Goal / Aim : The part that states what to make / what to do.
 Ingredient / Material : The part that contains things needed to make
something.
 Instruments / Tools / Equipments : The part that contains things used in the process.
 Steps / Methods : The part that describe the process in order

Language Feature
 Simple present tense : to express general fact.
o ex : is, are, get, turn, etc
 Action Verb / Imperative : to express command / instruction.
o ex : cut, slice, pour, etc
 Temporal Conjunction : to state the order / sequence of the action.
o ex : first, second, then, after that, finally, etc
 Adverb / Adverbial Construction : to give detail or additional information to the action.
o ex : carefully, twice, until dried, etc
 Measurement word : to give the quantity of the thing as the ingredients
o ex : 2 g, ½ cm, half, etc
