Confucianism, a Chinese philosophy, and Buddhism, a religion, share several similarities.

There are, however, several significant differences when it comes to their belief systems and
practices.
Buddhism is founded by the Buddha which originated in Indian subcontinent, while
Confucianism is founded by Kong Qiu which originated in China. The followers of Buddha are
called “Buddhists” at the same time “Confucianists” are labelled for the followers of
Confucious. Buddhists deny the concept of an all-knowing, all-powerful, all-present creator.
Theistic claims that the world was formed by a self-conscious, personal God were rejected by
the Buddha himself while Confucianism is not simply a philosophy, but rather a social order
schema. In actuality, One of Buddhism's core teachings is rebirth where they believe that they
are trapped in a never-ending cycle of life, death, and rebirth that can only be ended by
achieving nirvana. The only way to permanently avoid misery is to achieve nirvana although in
Confucianism Ancestors and heritage is significant, but not worshipped. In terms of principle,
Buddhists believe that life is filled with suffering, and the only way to find relief is to realize the
Four Noble Truths and follow the Eightfold Path to eradicate one's cravings and misery. They
also believe in the principle of equality which states that all living entities are equal. Most
importantly, their goal of philosophy is to lessen mental suffering. On the other hand,
Confucianism is all about humanity's brotherhood which aims their goal of philosophy that is
social harmony. Furthermore, their similarities include with both having stress on self-
development of character.
