Singapore Biomedical Challenge 2011

This annual event aims to provide a platform to learn and to network with other like-minded students and the medical
academia in Singapore.

The Singapore Biomedical Challenge 2011 is divided into two categories:

the Olympiad for Sec 3-4 (IP Year 3-4) –individually assessed; to develop their aptitude and
potential in the biomedical disciplines, through critical thinking and problem solving; and

the Symposium for JC 1-2 (IP Year 5-6) – teams of 5, but are individually assessed through
teamwork in conducting research, presenting, and defending their thesis.

This year, the theme is Cardiovascular and Gastrointestinal Systems. The scope includes structure, function
and disorders of:

Cardiovascular System – heart, blood vessels, blood components etc.

Gastrointestinal System – mouth, esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas etc.

February, Saturday from 0730 to 1745. They are invited to attend the Opening Ceremony and Keynote
Addresses.
** ALL other participants are invited to attend the Prize Presentation Ceremony for the Singapore
Biomedical Challenge on 26 February, Saturday from 1615 to 1745. Attendance is NOT compulsory as the
Certificates of Participation will be sent to their schools.
