Drive systems exercise pack 06, revision 2

Changelog:

Problem 6.3: Corrected the upper limit of angle β from 150 to 330 degrees, to
correspond to the solution. A big thanks to Happy and Jasser for noticing my mistake.

Problem 6.7: Corrected the limits of angle γ.

Exercise 6.1:
If member 1 rotates around A, draw the range of movement of point C.

Exercise 6.3
Determine graphically and draw the area that the end of the robot arm (point C) can
reach if it rotates about fixed point A and swivels at joint B.
The angles α and β are limited as follows:
-45° < α < 225°
30° < β < 330°

Exercise 6.4
Determine graphically and draw the area that the end of the robot arm (point D) can
reach if it rotates about fixed point A and swivels at joints B and C.
The angles α, β and γ are limited as follows:
0° < α < 180°
90° < β < 270°
90° < γ < 270°

Exercise 6.5
If the cylinder in the dump truck shown below is extended to 1.5 times the length it has
now, draw the position of all linkages and joints and sketch the container in that
position.

in Beispiele.
Exercise 6.6
For the bucket loader below: Draw the position of all members, joints and the position of
the bucket if: cylinder Z1 is retracted to 80% of its current length and
cylinder Z2 is extended to 110% of its current length.

Exercise 6.7
For the excavator depicted below, graphically determine the range of the cutting edge
of the bucket. The angles have the following limits:
-61°<α<88°
21°<β<137°
30°<γ<205°

Exercise 6.8
For the dump truck shown, design the crank mechanism that let’s the container travel
trough the three positions shown. You need to find the position of the joints on the
container and draw the cranks.
