COVID 19 response: Deped Distance Learning Modality

“Education can’t wait”

- Leonor Briones

Amidst of the pandemic, the Department of Education still believes that education
should not be compromised. With this, we have adapted new blended learning which is the
distance learning. Distance learning, also known as correspondence education or home study,
is a form of education or home study, is a form of education where there is little or no face-
to-face interaction between students and their instructors. There are three categories of type
of modality. In which the most preferred type of learning by the Filipino students is modular
distance learning and it was also based through the result of (Learning Enrollment and
Survey) that given prior to the opening of classes. The type of learning that I’ve chosen is
modular distance learning because we have poor internet connection in our place and it can
cost a lot of load expenses. As I experience this new type of learning, at first, it’s hard because I
have to adjust myself. I have to study on my own, and it’s quite frustrating because I don’t
have someone to ask to, because my parents are working and my siblings is having their
classes too. Despite the odds, I still able to submit my answer sheets. Because of the modular
learning, I appreciate the teachers even more. I realized that it’s still different to have
discussions with the teachers because of them we can fully understand the lessons. I can really
conclude that I’ve learned something from the discussions of my teachers. And what makes
me appreciate them more is their dedication and hard works for their students from printing
our modules, checking our answer sheets and distribute/pick up our modules in the different
assigned barangays. Because of them, I am also trying my best to answer my modules. In this
way, we can give back to every teacher who exert their efforts.
Coexisting with this pandemic is one of the best defenses and might be the only choice
for us to move forward. Let’s us just complement ourselves after this global crisis. After all, we
all deserve it.
