THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING

Introduction

Physical education subject has become one of the student’s favorite

subjects. School’s today provide many programs that help students develop

ability in sports. As stated by Awuma (2015), the equipment and facilities plays a

major role in sports development. It would not be important to achieve

satisfactory results from athletes, whose training facilities are inadequate or

substandard which in actual fact will not compliment the work of the coach. Good

sports programs can function at full effectiveness only when they are supported

with effective equipment in good conditions. It is a fact that facilities and

equipment is needed in every school to ensure quality education. This study will

promote the importance of having adequate or standard training facilities and

equipment for physical education activities in every school.

According to Bucher and Krotee, Bamidele (2016), physical education is

an educational process that uses physical activities as a means to help individual

acquire skills, fitness, knowledge and attitudes that contribute to their optional

development and well-being. Moreover, to Fishburne (2005), the aim of physical

education is to produce individuals who have good health (physical fit), altitudes

(such as honesty, sportsmanship, fair lay, courtesy desire of physical activities),

knowledge in physical education and skills. Venkateswarlu (2008) stressed

further that the status of physical education in school curricula worldwide was an

apparent issue in some countries in the 1970s and 1980s. Moreover, Awosika

(1996) as cited by Okakah (2015) said that many research works on facilities,

equipment, personnel and maintenance show that the areas are deficient and

that sports management in the state and the country at large cannot function

adequately.

The present study manifest the adequate of sporting facilities and

equipment constitute a big cog in the wheel of successful administration of

sports. According to Limon, (2016) one crucial variable that directly impacts the

quality of learning acquisition among learners is the adequacy of school facilities

that aid or reinforcement of knowledge and skills.” As per observation of the

researcher, one of the problems in Gamut National High School is the

inadequate sports facilities and equipment. Anchored to the idea of Limon, This

problem affects the performance of their students during their Physical Education

hands - on activities. This situation encouraged the researchers to conduct the

study.

The significance of the study is to promote the value of the equipment and

facilities to the high school administrations and Physical Education teachers to

venture the reasons for the dearth to aid the need for the facilities and

equipment. Sports Facilities and equipment will be of great help in the realization

of the quality learning outcomes of the students and teaching performance of the

teachers in classes and activities. It is in this premise, the researchers would like

to conduct the study on the influence of facilities and equipment to the

performance of the physical education students.

Theoretical/Conceptual Framework

The study is darted to Edgar Dale’s Cone of Experience Theory (1946) used

by Davis and Summers (2015) in their study. This theory focuses on the thought

that “effective learning was achieved by applying strategies at the bottom of the

pyramid using direct, purposeful learning experiences that simulates “doing the

real thing,” and represents reality or the closest things to real, every-day life.” The

theory mainly shows that a hands-on experience can bring a great impact to

students’ learning. The cone is consisting the different level of retention of

knowledge. This emphasizes that reading contains the lowest retention of

knowledge and doing the real thing have the highest retention of knowledge.

Edgar Dale’s theory is escorted by John Dewey’s Experiential Learning

Theory used by Kolb (2015). Dewey’s thought that “lifelong learning is often

conceived as a process of learning from direct life experiences that is controlled

by the individual.” Both theories intersect to the midpoint of thought that

experience leads to lifelong learning. It is a fact that facilities and equipment

affects to the experience of the students.

Anchored to those theories, the Figure 1 presents the schematic diagram

shows the flow of the study. The first box contains the Status of Facilities and

Hypothesis

Ho1: There is no significant relationship between status of sports facilities and

equipment to the academic performance of the students in Physical Education.

Ho2: There is no significant relationship between the status of facilities and

equipment to the problems met by the students in the conduct of Physical

Education activities.

Significance of the Study

In every school there is an administrator and they have the authority to

provide facilities and equipment in the conduct of the different activities. Ergo,

the researchers believed that the outcomes of the study will encourage

administrators, teachers and students to hover in the importance of equipment

and facilities in the school.

School Administrators. This will give additional attraction to the school.

The findings will attract students mostly, those who are sports oriented.

Physical Education teachers. This will enhance their awareness about

the influence of facilities and equipment to the performance of their Physical

Education students.

Students. This will allow the students to venture sports with the specified

equipment for a certain sport. The findings or the realization of the study will

hasten the idea of the students about the influence of sports facilities and

equipment to their performance during the physical education activities.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURES AND STUDIES

This chapter presents the literatures and studies which have been

relevance and which will serve as background information of the present study.

The studies will further expose how facilities and equipment become essential in

dealing with developing physical education that will benefit both the physical

education teachers and student.

Literatures

Foreign

Patil and Metri (2016), opined that the Physical education in general, plays

a prominent role in all programs of education as an integral growth of the

individual, since its functions cannot be selected by any other part of the

college’s curriculum. It is for this reason that all colleges authorities have to

provide opportunities to develop leadership qualities and facilities for participation

in activities that will help pupils to achieve these objective that are valuable in life.

Physical Education is also a part of education, which must provide sports

facilities for high schools students. Since physical education should be included

in the curriculum of high schools, it is also palpable that it requires facilities and

equipment.

10
Republic of the Philippines
SURIGAO DEL SUR STATE UNIVERSITY
COLLEGE OF TEACHER EDUCATION
Main Campus, Tandag City

Driven by that condition, Patil and Metri opined that if the trained teachers

take interest in sports, students also get motivated in sports. As they further

elaborate their thoughts, they concluded that all the high schools have neglected

sports facilities in their institutions. They promoted that, authorities must insist to

all the high schools to have sports facilities. It is also to provide sufficient fund to

build sports infrastructure in the schools. By improving the knowledge about

physical education and improving the standards in physical education, there will

be progress in the field of sports.

In addition Rozboril (2011) says that material conditions in physical

education and sports are an inseparable part of teaching process. Not only these

conditions directly influence teaching process, they also determine that

preconditions for optimal teaching of physical education and sports are the

optimal material conditions and equipment of schools. These conditions and aids

are often limiting factors for realization of physical education and sports at

schools. The situation at a number of schools is inconvenient in the long term,

mainly in the field of teaching aids, apparatus, equipment, operation,

reconstruction, maintenance and construction of physical education and sports

buildings and facilities.

In relation to that study, Ugwuanyi (2013) opined that the availability of

adequate facilities, equipment and supplies as well as their utilization are

important ingredients in any physical education and sports programme. The

11

availability of resources instructional facilities, equipment and supplies as well as

adequate personnel motivates the learners, increases the teacher’s efficiency

and promotes the productivity of the teacher. Facilities, supplies and equipment

provision are important aspect of physical education and sports programme

management. According to the content of his research, citing Adedeji, Ugwuanyi

opined that there must be sufficient motivation in form of attractive facilities,

supplies and equipment for the school physical education programme in a

secondary school. Where these resources are lacking, the effective functioning of

the school physical education programme will be hindered.

The idea of Ugwuanyi can be intertwined with the thoughts of Ananomo

(2014) in his Principles and Practice of the Maintenance of Physical Education

Curriculum Facilities and Equipment in Schools. He discussed about enhancing

approach to the maintenance of physical education curriculum facilities and

equipment in schools. Citing Hornby, he opined that Maintenance is the act of

keeping up, retaining, continuing, supporting, protecting or keeping in good repair

or working order. According to him, the role of finance in the maintenance of

facilities and equipment cannot be over emphasized. Maintenance is capital

intensive in which he also looked on the need of information. According to him,

Information is the act of giving knowledge, signals, ideas or statistical data with a

view to understanding the how, why and when the component parts are to

interact in a physical education curriculum programme. Interaction among the

administrators, teachers and pupils is a must if the programme must succeed.

12
Republic of the Philippines

In addition Sawyer, et al (2015) opined that, a facility that is well

maintained and managed is one of the best public and consumer relations tools

in an organization’s arsenal. An organization’s facility manager must become

involved in many tasks, including, but not limited to, leadership, facility and event

management, crowd control, security, emergency operations, facility

maintenance, operational policies and procedures, and human resources to

name a few. This idea can be intertwined or related to the idea of Johnston

(2013). He opined that designing for PE and Sport, Director of Property, Sport

England. Access to good sports facilities within the local community is vital to any

sports organisation, yet many clubs struggle to find places to play and train.

It is aimed at head teachers, PE staff, coaches and stakeholder groups as

much as project teams, recognising the key role that they can play in ensuring

that good design decisions are underpinned by extensive strategic planning and

a robust business plan. Jenkinson & Benson (2010), in their study “Barriers to

Providing Physical Education and Physical Activity in Victorian State Secondary

Schools.” In large schools in particular (in which many respondents teach), it is

important to timetable so access to  facilities is rotated, students experience

learning in a range of environments and lessons can be planned appropriately to

use the available space most effectively. In their research, they conclude that it

needs access to facilities, suitable teaching spaces and equipment were the

most highly-ranked barriers.

Millan (2011) She opined that the state shall promote Physical Education

and encourage sports programs, leagues competitions and amateur sports

including the training for international competitions to foster self-discipline,

teamwork and excellence for the development of a healthy and alert citizenry.

Her advocate shows more the importance of sports in developing a well-

grounded society. As cited in the study of Japos (2011), in his integration of

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to Enhance Academic Capability of

Philippine Higher Education in the journal of business and governance in page

21, he opined that an emerge and financially healthier university can ultimately

be realized through the following GIS-engaged activities: efficient management of

campus facilities and assets, intelligent student recruitment, development of

highly-competitive GIS-skilled graduates and aggressive. He encourage the

administrators to turn their face and have a glimpse to the problem of the

facilities and equipment inss the realm of sports.

In addition, Senoc (2011) in her performance of athletes in basic

elementary education: basis for an improved sports development program, she

opined that sports school’s wide range of training venues and residential facilities

make it well-suited for hosting centralized residential training camps and sports

competitions. In addition, it also offers corporate facilities such as meeting and

conference rooms. Lack of standardized sporting facilities is also another

challenge that is facing as an implementing organization.

With the support from Zambia National AIDS Network (ZNAN), they

managed to construct a basketball court which is accommodating more than 400

youths in the village. Lack of equipment is another challenge being experienced

in project areas. The equipment in these projects do not last for long time

because of their playing surface. Others projects that are generating funds are

able to sustain its equipment program because of their income generating

activities that have been constructed.

In the other hand, the lack of trained man-power is another barrier being

faced in the project and this has heeded in some areas, for all activities to be run

well there is a need to train the man-power such as those who are peer leaders,

project officers in charge. Her idea shows the importance not only in the facilities

and equipment but also the field and the involvement of the administrators.

These things are intertwined to each other and they appear inseparable in

dealing training athletes.

Studies

Having the right quality and quantity sports facilities and equipment is an

integral parts of sports development (Awoma et al. 2015). Citing Ekpe (2011)

Awoma opined that, it is difficult to separate the standard of sports in a particular

15
Republic of the Philippines
SURIGAO DEL SUR STATE UNIVERSITY

country from the standard of facilities available for the training of athletes. These

are the thoughts of Awoma about facilities and equipment in student’s

performance. Citing Ojeme she states that, in the developed world, sports

facilities and equipment of the appropriate standard are available of promote the

athletes performance. In support of this view, citing Talabi, she opined that most

developing countries wish to arrive at the level of developed countries over night.

While developed countries are putting so much into providing excellent facilities,

equipment and conducive environment for athletes, developing countries seems

to lag behind in the provision of these amenities and expect their players or

athletes to excel in the international arena.

Development countries are not paying enough attention to starting well so,

ending up finishing badly or poorly. Citing Ojeme Awoma opined that the

realization or actualization of our nation's sports development objectives for

becoming a world class sporting nation warrants the availability of enabling or

facilitating input of various categories. He further defined these inputs as the

intrinsic and extrinsic technology of sports as the inherent requirement for the

conduct of sports such as the physical skills and material equipment required for

sports experience. Awoma opined that, provision of adequate facilities and

equipment is as important as providing adequate incentive for the athletes. Good

sports programme can only functions at full effectiveness when they are

supported with sufficient equipment in good conditions.

16
Republic of the Philippines
SURIGAO DEL SUR STATE UNIVERSITY
COLLEGE OF TEACHER EDUCATION
Main Campus, Tandag City

Citing Awosika, Awoma exposed that many research works on facilities,

equipment, personnel and maintenance show that the areas are deficient and

that sports management in the state and the country at large cannot function

adequately. The availability of adequate equipment and facilities plays a major

role in sports development. It would not be important to achieve satisfactory

results from athletes, whose training facilities are inadequate or substandard

which in actual fact will not compliment the work of the coach. Good sports

programmes can function at full effectiveness only when they are supported with

effective equipment in good conditions. Athletes have come to realize that

improved performances and development of special skills which can earn them

better incentives can be enhanced through better sports facilities and modern

equipment.

Akomolafe (2016) stated that, “The status of physical facilities especially in

our public secondary schools today appears to be of great concern to educators.

It seems that the provision of these school facilities have dwindled over the

years, perhaps due to increase in school enrolment rate which had led to

population explosion in public schools”. Experience shows that if physical

facilities are available, students tend to have interest in learning; this will

invariably lead to high performance. Therefore, an adequate facilities provided,

there seems to be an increase in students’ performance.

17
Republic of the Philippines
SURIGAO DEL SUR STATE UNIVERSITY
COLLEGE OF TEACHER EDUCATION
Main Campus, Tandag City

Limon (2016) citing the Department of Education series of 1999, that

public schools struggle when it comes to the availability of appropriate, school,

and quality school facilities on teaching and learning. It proves that the problem

of the lack of facilities and equipment existed for a long time in the Philippines. In

his study citing Scheinder, he opined that, a large proportion of school facilities in

the Philippines are approximately fifty years old and are typically in poor

conditions. He gave a backbone to this idea through citing Filardo in his idea that

public schools are constantly confronted without date designs, deteriorating

conditions, and changing utilization pressures. These thoughts of Limon can be

intertwined or supported with the study of Abarro.

As an addition Akomolafe citing Adeyemi (2008), opined that academic

performance can be viewed as the extent to which an individual learner acts or

does a piece of work, how well or poor he/she does the job or the activities within

a learning process. Poor performance, however can be regarded as having

performed below the required academic performance. It supported by Charles

(1994), referred to poor performance as performance that fall below the desired

standard.

That thought is supported by the idea of Oluremi (2012) as the author

opined that, facilities have a great impact on academic performances of students,

and inadequate facilities translate to poor performance. His study concluded that

inadequate provision of facilities and materials to mainstreamed public schools

would lead to poor academic performances of the students. Finally, adequate

18
Republic of the Philippines

COLLEGE OF TEACHER EDUCATION
Main Campus, Tandag City

funding of integrated schools would help to overcome the problem of provision

and maintenance of special equipment and materials for the use of students with

special educational needs. The authors stated that, the facilities or the learning

environment affects the respondents in having fairly satisfactory grades in the

physical education subject. Local

Abarro (2012) citing Basilisco, opined to improve the implementation of

the PE program, teachers have to be trained in PE and be provided resources

and facilities. They will be strongly motivated to improve their teaching

competencies. This shows the importance of facilities and equipment in learning

and teaching. By that, the MAPEH program demands efficient management of

the learning environment, preparation for instruction, interaction with student, and

parent-community interaction. It involves the curriculum, the teachers, instruction,

learning facilities, and the participation of school administrator. A teacher that is

interactive with students, who cares and is enthusiastic impacts students’

enjoyment of MAPEH.

Based on the two studies, both of them intersect in the idea of Limon as

he opined that, the relationship between the quality of school facilities and

student performance and achievement in which the component of physical

school facility that yields the heaviest weight in affecting student performance

and achievement. Both of the ideas, shows that the dearth of facilities and

equipment really affect the performance of the teachers, as well as the yearling

students mostly in the field of Physical Education.

Insights Gained

Dealing with the swamp of ideas from the different studies and literatures,

the researchers sought to unify the ideas as it presents per se dealing in broad

strokes. It is palpable that the studies are parallel yet, some are implicit and

some are explicit in revealing ideas in which, it leads to the researchers

construed to some intersection points to have an intertwined ideas lying in one

axis.

Referring to the different studies and literatures, the researchers reflected

that having adequate facilities and equipment is a big contribution not only to the

school, to the society but also to the students. Rephrasing the idea of Senoc

(2011), Lack of trained man-power is another barrier that we face in the current

generation. As the researchers following this conceptualization, they found out

that their study is darted to reality that makes it true and valid. Though it is quite

implicit, the gathered studies and literatures became the means to vasten the

abstraction of knowledge that, facilities and equipment is pragmatically needed in

the present and to the coming generations.

Capsulizing the premises, all of the studies that were provided shows how

the facilities and equipment are peripherally set-a-side. By having those created

premises, the researchers concluded that the study is quite timely and

necessary. Leading towards the light of having solution, the studies and

literatures ignites supports as the backbone for the research to expose how

important it is to have adequate facilities and equipment and how it is essential to

conducive in conducting physical education activities. For the equipment,

badminton gained the highest mean described as “available and usable”. It was

followed by the basketball and Table Tennis with the same adjectival rating but

have lesser mean value. However, the equipment that acquired the adjectival

rating of “not available and not usable” are soccer, arnis, gymnastics, and

throwing events. It entails that the status of sports equipment contains not only

the available but not usable but there is also unavailability of some equipment

during the conduct of physical education activities.

According to Patil and Metri (2016), opined that the Physical education in

Table 3 revealed the status in administrative support, out of 20 items,

there are 19 items rated as “often” and only the conduct regular sports

competition of school or district got the adjectival rate of “always”. It means that

the administrative support for the Physical Education students in the conduct of

activities were almost carried out. The result of the study shows that the

administrative support for teachers was given enough support for the conduct of

the P.E. activities.

According to Sawyer et al. (2015) a facility that is well maintained and

managed is one of the best public and consumer relations tools in an

organization’s arsenal. An organization’s facility manager must become involved

in many tasks, including, but not limited to, leadership, facility and event

management, crowd control, security, emergency operations, facility

maintenance, operational policies and procedures, and human resources to

name a few. This implies that the administrators is the anima of the conduct of

the physical education activities.

Academic Performance of Students in Physical Education

Underlining to the result, most of the students gained the academic

performance rate of 75 – 79 with the adjectival rating of “fairly satisfactory.” In

the other hand, the indicator that gained the least number of respondents is the

academic performance rate of 90 – 100 with the adjectival rating of “outstanding.”

This declares that there were higher numbers of students who fairly pass the

physical education subject.

According to Akomolafe and Adesua (2016), “A close observation of the

performance of secondary school students perhaps could be traced to lack of

physical facilities and a motivating learning environment.” The authors give an

open ended judgment that either of the facilities or the learning environment

affects the respondents in having fairly satisfactory grades in the physical

education subject.

that the problems met is frequently happen during the conduct of class in

Physical Education activities.

According to Ugwuanyi (2013) opined that the availability of adequate

facilities, equipment and supplies as well as their utilization are important

ingredients in any physical education and sports programme. The availability of

resources instructional facilities, equipment and supplies as well as adequate

personnel motivates the learners, increases the teacher’s efficiency and

promotes the productivity of the teacher. Facilities, supplies and equipment

provision are important aspect of physical education and sports programme

management. In support with this, citing Adedeji, Ugwuanyi opined that there

must be sufficient motivation in form of attractive facilities, supplies and

equipment for the school physical education programme in a secondary school.

Where these resources are lacking, the effective functioning of the school

physical education programme will be hindered.

Status of Sports Facilities and Equipment Versus the Administrative

Support and the Problems Met by the Physical Education Students

Table 6 depicts the relationship between the status of facilities and

equipment and the administrative support based on the result of the conducted

questionnaire to the students and teacher in Gamut National High School. This

will show if the null hypothesis be accepted or rejected based on the statistical

computation.

On the table, the status of sports facilities, equipment and administrative

support, have a slight relationship with the computed r of .364. Table 6 shows

that, with the 50% area of acceptance the computed t is 6.17 which is higher than

the tabular value of 1.97 therefore null hypothesis is rejected. It only shows that

there is a significant relationship between sports facilities, equipment and

administrative support. While in the relationship between the problems met and

the administrative support have indifferent or negligible relationship based on the

computed r of .113, the computed t is 2.04 which is higher than the tabular value

of 1.97 which makes the null hypothesis be rejected. Though the computed r

shows that there is negligible relationship, the main focus of accepting or

rejecting the null hypothesis lies upon computed t and the tabular value.

According to Abarro (2012) citing Basilisco, opined that “to improve the

implementation of the PE program, teachers have to be trained in PE and be

provided resources and facilities. They will be strongly motivated to improve their

teaching competencies. This shows the importance of facilities and equipment in

learning and teaching.” Extracting from this thoughts, it implies that the

administrators plays a vital role on the status of facilities and equipment to the

teaching learning process of students.

of the Students

Table 7 illustrates the relationship of facilities and equipment to the

academic performance of the students in Gamut National High School. This will

show if the null hypothesis be accepted or rejected based on the statistical

The findings suggest that the status of facilities and equipment have a

relation to the academic performance of the physical education students having

the computed r of .360 means that there is a slight relationship of the two

variables. With 50% area of acceptance, the computed t is 6.91 which is higher

than the tabular value of 1.97. This speaks out that the null hypothesis is rejected

therefore; there is a relationship between the status of sports facilities and

equipment to the academic performance of the physical education students.

According to Akomolafe and Adesua (2016), “the school physical facilities

are essential tools to facilitate and stimulate learning programmes. Teachers

need them in an ideal working environment. Experience shows that if physical

facilities are available, students tend to have interest in learning: this will

invariably lead to high performance.” This idea is supported or can be intertwined

with the idea of Awoma et al. (2015) as they state that, “Good sports programme

can only functions at full effectiveness when they are supported with sufficient

equipment in good conditions.”

In relevance to the present study, the statement mentioned conforms to

the result of the study since the availability of sports facilities and equipment

affects the performance physical education students as well as their academic

performance.

Chapter 5

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter presents the summary of findings, conclusions made and the

recommendations offered based on the data presented in the previous chapter.

Summary of Findings

The following finding were drawn from the data analysis:

The researchers found out that In terms of sports facilities and equipment,

badminton event gained a mean of the study 3.47 described as available and

usable rank as first. However, the soccer, arnis, gymnastics and throwing events

are found to be not available and not usable.

The researchers found out that out of 20 items, there are 19 items rated

with the adjectival rating “often” which entails that almost all the activities relative

to the items were carried out, and only number 13 which states that conduct

regular sports competition of school or district got the adjectival rate of “always”

that indicates that feature/activity is carry out.

In the academic performance of students in physical education, there

were 97 students gained the academic performance with an adjectival rating of

“fairly satisfactory.” There were only 56 respondents who gained the academic

performance with the adjectival rating of “outstanding.” It shows that there were

higher numbers of students who fairly pass the physical education subject.

36
Republic of the Philippines
SURIGAO DEL SUR STATE UNIVERSITY

In terms of the problems met by the Physical Education students, it has a

weighted mean of 3.02 with the adjectival rating as “frequent” which denotes that

the problems are frequently happen during the conduct of class and sport

activities.

It reveals that the Status of sports facilities, equipment and the

administrative support has a significant relationship having a computed r of .364

which shows that there is a low correlation or slight relationship and having the

computed t of 6.17 which is distinctively higher than 1.79 tabular value. Thus, the

null hypothesis is rejected. The relationship between Problems met and the

administrative support has a significant relationship. Thus, the null hypothesis is

rejected. This implies that during the conduct of physical education activities, the

support of the administration really matters.

The findings revealed that the status of facilities and equipment has a

significant relationship to the academic performance of the students having the

computed r of 360 means that there is slight relationship of the two variables.

With 50% area of acceptance, the computed t is higher than the tabular value.

This speaks out that the null hypothesis is rejected. Thus, there is a relationship

between the status of facilities and equipment to the academic performance of

the students.

Conclusions

Based upon the summary of findings, the following conclusions

were drawn:

Only badminton facilities has the ample of attention than the other sports

equipment which causes negligence. This entails that there are also

unavailability of some equipment during the conduct of physical education

activities that needs an attention to prevent poor performance of the students.

There is a presence of administrative support to the conduct of Physical

Education activities but there is an undeniable insufficient support which lead to

some activities be undone particularly the regular conducts of sports competition

of school or district.

In terms of the academic performance of the students, all the respondents

has pass by grade but there is still factors that leads to fairly pass the physical

education subject. Thus, it is concluded by the researchers that the students’ met

the expected performance. Students needs the presence of the facilities and

equipment that would lead their performance to very satisfactory.

Since the problems met by the physical education students are frequently

happen during the conduct of class and sport activities which resulted to low

performance therefore, the sports facilities and equipment is needed by the

students to perform well during the conduct of activities.

The administrative support has a significant relationship to the Status of

sports facilities and equipment as well as to the problems met by the students in

the conduct of Physical Education activities. Therefore, the support of the

administration has a big influence to the status of sports facilities and equipment

that affects the performance of the Physical Education students.

The status of sports facilities and equipment has a significant relationship

to the academic performance of the students. The researchers inferred that

sports facilities and equipment in the school affects to the academic performance

of the students. In other words, an adequate facilities and equipment can lead to

a poor academic performance.

Recommendations

It is suggested that the school will give purchase other sports facilities and

equipment such as soccer, arnis, gymnastics and throwing events for the

students to have a hands-on experience in playing.

The school administrators might consider of conducting seminars and

orientation on the influence of facilities and equipment to the performance of

Physical Education students’ awareness in the importance of facilities and

equipment in the conduct of Physical Education activities is encourage.

The teachers of physical education are encourage to review all of the

rubrics to check the relevance of the sports facilities and equipment in the

school.

The Physical Education teacher may undergo a seminar workshop on the

influence of facilities and equipment to the performance of Physical Education

students.

The school administrators may initiate a weekly evaluation on the status of

facilities and equipment as well as the conduct of Physical Education activities is

highly recommended to ensure usability and upgrading of sports facilities and

equipment.
