Global Warming

Global warming is a serious problem. a simple definition of global warming is a phenomenon

of increasing the average temperature of the atmosphere, oceans, and the earth's land as a whole.
In detail Global warming is the slow increase in the average temperature of the earth’s atmosphere
because an increased amount of the energy (heat) striking the earth from the sun is being trapped in
the atmosphere and not radiated out into space.

The earth’s atmosphere has always acted like a greenhouse to capture the sun’s heat,
ensuring that the earth has enjoyed temperatures that permitted the emergence of life forms as we
know them, including humans. Without our atmospheric greenhouse the earth would be very cold.
Global warming, however, is the equivalent of a greenhouse with high efficiency reflective glass
installed the wrong way around, the heat is being kept inside greenhouse earth that the
temperature of the earth is going up faster than at any previous time in history.

Global warming occurs when greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane,
nitrous oxide and other air pollutants collect in the atmosphere and absorb sunlight and solar
radiation that have bounced off the earth’s surface. Normally, this radiation would escape into space
—but these pollutants, which can last for years to centuries in the atmosphere, trap the heat and
cause the planet to get hotter. That's what's known as the greenhouse effect.

Near three out of four of these green house gasses got in the atmosphere because of human
beings burning fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are non-natural resources that form millions of years ago
when the remains of prehistoric plants and animals were gradually buried deep under ground. We
currently burn these fossil fuels to heat homes, power motor vehicles, power industrial and
manufacturing plants, and generate electricity which fills the air with carbon dioxide in the process.

Deforestation also helps cause global warming. Tropical forest trees, like all green plants, take
in carbon dioxide and release oxygen during photosynthesis. Plants also carry out the opposite
process known as respiration in which they emit carbon dioxide, but generally in smaller amounts
than they take in during photosynthesis. The surplus carbon is stored in the plant, helping it to grow.
When trees are cut down and burned or allowed to rot, their stored carbon is released into the air as
carbon dioxide. And this is how deforestation and forest degradation contribute to global warming.

When global warming occurs, the temperature on earth gets warmer. Not only that, but the
weather conditions on earth are also become extreme and uncertain. Because all systems in the
global climate system are connected, adding heat energy causes the global climate as a whole to
change. Much of the world is covered with ocean which heats up. When the ocean heats up, more
water evaporates into clouds. Where storms like hurricanes and typhoons are forming, the result is
more energy-intensive storms. A warmer atmosphere makes glaciers and mountain snow packs, the
Polar ice cap, and the great ice shield jutting off of Antarctica melt raising sea levels. Global warming
is also help spread disease, for example, less snow means more places for mosquitoes to breed
witch, in turn, spread disease.

In these conditions, it would be difficult to avoid and stop it completely. This is because the
pattern of human life continues to develop and change. However, what needs to be done is to
reduce the more severe impact of global warming. Several efforts can be made to reduce the global
warming process.

there are several things we can do to stop global warming. One of them is to reduce your
carbon footprint. A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions that come
from the production, use and end-of-life of a product or service. It includes carbon dioxide the gas
most commonly emitted by humans and others, including methane, nitrous oxide, fluorinated
gases, which trap heat in the atmosphere, causing global warming. We can reduce these gas
emissions by Recycle more, Drive less, and Switch to renewable energy. You can also plant some
trees. Planting trees is helpful as they absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and regulate the
climate. Hence, there is a dire need to plant more trees because a single tree can absorb one ton of
CO2 in its lifetime.

Although you can do your part to stop global warming, you’ll be able to do more if you don’t
work alone. If you work to spread global warming awareness. Speak up about global warming, its
consequences, causes and what steps we can take to prevent global warming with your friends,
family and colleagues. Use the power of social media to voice out your concerns about climate
change. You’ll be able to convince other people to make the changes that they need to stop global
warming.
