In our society, there are those who consider that issues related to the environment must be
resolved on a global level. Contrariwise, other people think it is a national matter and is more
advantageous when dealt with internailly. In my opinion, dealing with such problems nationally
is not sufficient. In fact, countries should collaborate together to fight against these problems.
‘On one hand, many individuals view that our environment is better-taken care of when all the
countries unite. Let's take a look at global warming, for example, which is one of the most
pressing challenges we have been facing for the last decade. This issue demands worldwide
collaboration for us to begin attaining results. The reason why a global strategy would be more
effective/frutful is the fact that every country gets to bring its own manpower, expertise, and
funding to the concoction, which ultimately raises our chances for success and helps us achieve
our goal more rapidly.
(On another hand, many argue that each country should take charge of its own environmental
recovery because the living conditions and the underlying natural factors differ from one country
to another. For instance, while Lebanon is facing water and air pollution, caused by people
dumping trash in the sea and next to the river sources, Brazil's environmental issues lie in a
completely different area. In Brazil people are facing deforestation, illegal wildlife trade, land
degradation, and water pollution caused by mining activities, wetland degradation, pesticide
use, and severe oil spills. We can see that the nature of the problems these countries are up
against are completely different. This inevitably necessitates the implementation of different
courses of action.
Personally speaking, | think that working on a global scale can be more efficient and can
breed/yield better results and achievements. After all, we have all contributed to the destruction
of mother nature and the depletion of its natural resources. We are all to blame and as such
must pay the price of our wrongdoings as a whole. Problems that have snowballed because of
our negligence such as climate change cannot be eradicated on a national scale.
In conclusion, when it comes to implementing correctional measures to counteract the
self-inflicted environmental harm, some feel that each country is better off dealing with its own
problems while others prefer a universal approach. | find that the world is better off acting as
one powerful entity in the face of this ticking bomb.
