LIGHTNING CDI INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1) Select a proper mounting location near enough to the spark plug for the coil wire length
and to properly mount the coil and CDI box. Loosely mount or do not mount until you have the
wiring complete. Wire ties, hose clamps, band/cable clamps or the like can be used to mount
in the location of your choice.

NOTE: If you don't know how to strip insulation, splice via crimping or preferred via soldering ask a friend or
email SBP. Shrink sleeve, or double shrink sleeve splices and external connections if possible. There are
some good tutorials for wiring and wire harnessing on the web.

2) Connect small diameter blue and black supply wires to corresponding wires from the
engine magneto. Use a proper solder or supplied crimp splices and shrink sleeve the
connections if you extend the wires.
3) Connect the larger insulated output wires to the coil. Black to the core using the crimped
ring terminal (we suggest a 6mm bolt/washer/nut) and red blade connector to the matching
output wire. Use a proper solder or supplied crimp terminals and shrink sleeve the
connections as necessary.

4) Connect the plug wire to a clean or new spark plug


5) Mount the box in the permanent location, tie wrap the wires neatly.
6) Start your engine. Use the key lock on-off switch* as added security. Enjoy!!!

*NOTE: THE KEY LOCK IS AN ELECTRICAL SWITCH. THE KEY MUST BE POINTED
TOWARD THE DOT TO BE ON AND FUNCTION.
