Presentation

- Slide 1

Hello good afternoon, we will present the conceptual design of the mechanical structural
support

Your servers Enrique, Mauricio and Ramon.

- Slide 2

The planned location for the miniBeBe detector will be near the Beam pipe and centered as
shown in the figure. For the initial prototype, the detector was planned to have a length of
60cm in its detection area and adding the mechanical structure would be 71.4cm

As referenced in the JINR document.

- Slide 3

We will now see the assembly of the detector starting from the structure and ending with the
electronics:

We have the basic structure which is the inner ring in which the crossbars will be coupled to
give support to our structure and to be able to position the sensor rails.

Inside the sensor rail we will place the plastics scintillators in a space arranged for them,
followed by SiPM cards and at the end the Ribbon PCB. As we can see in the image.

Finally, to close the structure we have the external flanges, which gives us total measures of :

- 71.4 cm in length

- 60 cm detection area

- And a total radius of 26 cm

For this prototype, it will consist of 16 electronic strips which will have 20 cells per strip

- Slide 4

This slide shows the radii used for the structure and arrangement of the sensors

- Slide 5

Here is the structure where the plastic scintillator, the SiPM cards and the Ribbon PCB will be
placed.

- Slide 6

In this slide we see the crossbar that provides structural reinforcement, serves as a guide and
prevents the elongation of the structure and its long-term deformation.

- Slide 7

Here we observe a transversal plane of the structure where we can appreciate the angles in
which the detectors will be arranged, being these at 22.5 ° for each sensor rail
- Slide 8

In this slide we can review the estimated weight and percentage of density for each 3D
printing material being worked on. For the final structure, it is contemplated in carbon fiber.

- Slide 9

In this slide we show a new design in the structure in which this transition is taking place taking
into account the new parameters and considerations for improvement. In this new prototype
we can see the structure has changes in length along 150 cm, and 30 cm in diameter for this
new arrangement.

- Slide 10

In this slide, we observe the assembly of the pieces that would form part of this new prototype
which would consist of:

- A pair of flanges to be attached to the mechanical structure of the Beam Pipe which is being
explored for its location.

- A sensor rail

- Plastics scintillators

- SiPM cards

- Ribbon PCB

This structure would be 150 cm long and 15 cm radius which would be located in a centered
way and close to the Beam pipe.

This structure would have space for 32 electronic strips which would have 48 cells per strip

- Slide 11

In this slide we see a ZOM showing the assembly of the mechanical fastening of the sensor rails
with the SiPM card.

It would be the same as the 10 since we keep showing the assembly, but only of the sensor rail

- Slide 12

As you can see in the slide, the new model of the miniBeBe prototype contains a new flange
that assembles with the support structure of the Beam Pipe being independent of the other
structures like the TPC within the MPD.

- Slide 13

We will continue to work on improvements to the mechanical structure that will allow us to
make resources more efficient without compromising the useful life of the structure, possible
changes and modifications that may occur.

Conclusion

According to what we discussed with Dr. Slava in past sessions we have the drawings of the
support in CAD for consultation and allow us to assemble and verify the changes that are
required at the time.
