Jesus at home
PART 1

Acts 5:42
“And daily in the temple, and in every
house, they did not cease teaching and
preaching Jesus as the Christ.”
STUDIES FOR CELL GROUPS

Something to think about

“If Jesus isn´t in the house, then the most

important person is missing. And if the most
important person is missing, then the house is
empty.”

During the next two weeks we will be learning

about the power that was experienced every
time Jesus visited a home. When the Lord was
among us here on earth, He never rejected
anybody. He ate with sinners, healed the sick,
and spoke with those looked down on. He
loved the rejected, performed miracles, and
most importantly, taught us how to love our
neighbor. In the New Testament, we find 12
times He visited a home, leaving us an example
of love put into action.

Let’s go deeper

Let´s learn about what happened when Jesus

visited these homes:

HAPPINESS IN THE HOME

(THE WEDDING IN CANA OF GALILEE)

1 READ John 2:1-12

Jesus and His disciples were invited to a

wedding, but during the party they ran out
of wine which meant the party was over.

Jesus performed His first miracle at this

wedding when He determined that the
waters would be transformed into the
best wine the people had tasted. Wine
represents happiness, joy and fullness, and
that is what Jesus restored in that home.

“This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana

of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and
His disciples believed in Him” (John 2:11).

Is your home lacking happiness? You

must know that Jesus wants to transform
all the pain and suffering into the purest
kind of joy.

HEALING
(PETER´S HOUSE)

2 Luke 4:38-39
“Now He arose from the synagogue and
entered Simon’s house. But Simon’s wife’s
mother was sick with a high fever, and they
made request of Him concerning her. So He
stood over her and rebuked the fever, and
it left her. And immediately she arose and
served them.”

Upon leaving the synagogue, Jesus visited

his disciple Peter´s house and found that
his mother-in-law was sick. Immediately,
Jesus rebuked the disease and ministered
healing. The woman was healed and began
to serve the Lord Jesus.

Jesus is interested in blessing the families

who serve Him. The touch of the Savior in one
life has so much impact that as a result this
person is inspired to follow Him and serve the
Lord with his/her gifts and talents.

RESTORATION
(THE HOUSE IN CAPERNAUM)

3 READ Luke 5:17-26

Upon arriving at the house where

Jesus stayed between trips, a crowd
approached Jesus wanting to receive
several miracles. But a paralyzed man
got His attention when he came into
the house through the roof with the
help of his friends. Astonished by their
faith, Jesus not only forgave his sins but
restored this man´s health.
“But that you may know that the Son of
Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—
He said to the man who was paralyzed,
“I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and
go to your house” (Luke 5:24).

Jesus wants to restore your health as well

as your family´s. Invite Him to visit your
home today! He wants to make you prosper
in everything.

REPENTANCE
(LEVI´S HOUSE)

4
Luke 5:29-32
“Then Levi gave Him a great feast in
his own house. And there were a great
number of tax collectors and others who
sat down with them. And their scribes
and the Pharisees complained against His
disciples, saying, “Why do You eat and
drink with tax collectors and sinners?”
Jesus answered and said to them, “Those
who are well have no need of a physician,
but those who are sick. I have not come
to call the righteous, but sinners, to
repentance.”

Jesus was invited to enjoy a meal at

Levi´s house. Levi was a tax collector
which is why the Pharisees quickly
began to discriminate Levi for his past.
They questioned Jesus and His disciples
for eating with him. However, the Lord
warned them: “I have not come to call
the righteous, but sinners to repentance”.

Jesus took repentance and forgiveness to

Levi´s house. Let Him enter yours and also
forgive your past marked with curses, sins
and arguments. He can make all things new!

ANOINTING AND
FORGIVENESS

5
(SIMON´S HOUSE)

READ Luke 7:36-46

There was a custom in Israel that every

time someone arrived to a house, the
host offered them water to wash their
hands and feet. When Jesus arrived at
Simon’s house, Simon didn’t offer said
hospitality. But everyone was surprised
when a woman walked in, washed Jesus´
feet with her tears, dried them with
her own hair and anointed them with
perfume.
Jesus saw this woman’s love and said in
front of everyone: “Therefore I say to you,
her sins, which are many, are forgiven,
for she loved much. But to whom little is
forgiven, the same loves little”
(Luke 7:47).

When you invite Jesus into your house, your

heart is transformed. You can cry at His feet
and leave your burdens, struggles and fears
there, and in return receive His forgiveness
and anointing.

RESURRECTION
(JAIRUS´ HOUSE)

6
READ Luke 8:41-56

Jairus was desperate for a solution to his

daughter´s sickness, so He invited Jesus
to his house. But the worst possible
thing happened on their way there, his
daughter died. Despite this, seeing this
man´s faith, Jesus went with him and
performed the miracle. “But He put
them all outside, took her by the hand
and called, saying, “Little girl, arise.”
Then her spirit returned, and she arose
immediately. And He commanded that
she be given something to eat”
(Luke 8:54-55).

What do you want to be brought back

to life? What needs to flourish? Jesus
can bring to life what you thought was
dead. Call onto Him and ask Him to visit
your home and resurrect everything you
considered lost.
