2. Voltage Control
To control the stator voltage of the synchronous generator the amount
of excitation is controlled and optimized. By regulating the excitation
current stator terminal voltage can be changed accordingly.
By changing the excitation reactive power generated can be also
be changed accordingly.
v Regulator: It process and amplifies input control signals to
control exciter. It has PI (proportional integral) and an amplifier.
v Phasor measurement unit; It is used in measurement. It gets
inputs from the secondary sides of potential transformer.
Y Stabilizing transformer: It is used in damping the oscillations.
Because of lagging response of the communication cables and
networks there is time delay which affects the power system
analysis.
