DRUG AWARENESS POSTER ASSIGNMENT

Learning Goal:​ By the end of this assignment I will research information regarding substance abuse
and demonstrate my knowledge using the success criteria.

Instructions:

1. Your assignment is to create an informative and visually creative awareness poster for ​ONE ​of the
drugs listed below.

2. See the ​success criteria​ for what information your billboard must have to be successful. Use the
attached ​checklist​ to make sure you included all of the necessary information.

3. Once you have all of your research, print off all of the material and use the markers/poster-board
provided to create your awareness poster.

4. ​SPECIAL NOTE: ​When doing your research, you are ​NOT ALLOWED ​to use information found on
Wikipedia. Any information taken from Wikipedia ​WILL NOT BE MARKED.

Success Criteria:

In order for your poster/billboard to be successful, it must include the following:

1. A large title and sub-headings for different information.

2. A catchy slogan or phrase which grabs the attention of an audience/viewer
3. Explain the short/long effects of the drug.
4. Identify at least three slang terms for the substance.
5. Identify at least five interesting facts/statistics about the substance.
6. Identify at least three myths about the substance.
7. Identify the reasons why teenagers may use the substance. i.e. – media influences
8. Identify three possible social consequences of using the drug.
9. Identify three places teens can get information and help regarding substance use and abuse.
10. Include at least two relevant pictures that add to your poster’s understanding.
11. On a separate page, include a bibliography that explains what websites you got your information
from.
12. The poster also must be creative, neat, and well organized.
