1. Define ​ethnicity​:
the fact or state of belonging to a social group that has a common national or cultu
tradition.

2. Define ​race​:
a grouping of humans based on shared physical or social qualities into categories
generally viewed as distinct by society.
3. Define​ racism​:
prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on t
basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that
minority or marginalized.
4. Why is the definition of​ racism​ in the book overly simplistic?
The definition does not address the problem of discrimination that usually comes
with racism.
5. Explain the following in terms of the concept of ​ethnicity ​vs​.​ race:
a. What is the “problem” with the way the US Census Bureau defines
“Asian Americans”​?
It has both "asian" races and ethnicities
b. What is the difference between the terms ​“African-American​” and
“black”​?
African American is an ethnicity while Black is a race
