INTRODUCTION
• Oil & grease (o&g) known as one of main contaminants
pollution in marine environment and identified as priority
parameter for development of ASEAN marine water
quality criteria (S.L Tong et al, 1999)
• Impact of oil & grease will be vary according to the scale of
pollution, chemical of the spill, and the ecological health &
livelihood and also have certain hotspots based on
pollution activities
• O&g monitored by DOE since 1976 (Mohd Tahir et al,1999)
also, listed as 1 of 7 parameters in Malaysian Marine
water quality index (DOE, 2013)
• O&g as a water quality index parameter for the
conservation of marine biota ( Monica E et all, Feb 2019)
RESEARCH BACKGROUND
