FAQ for the „MasterCard® Identity


CheckTM“- procedure
1. WHAT IS THE MASTERCARD IDENTITY CHECK AND WHY DO I NEED THIS
PROCEDURE?
Mastercard Identity Check is a security procedure for the authorization of e-commerce payments with your debit card and
replaces the previous "Maestro Secure Code" method. The Mastercard Identity Check procedure protects you from unauthor-
ized use of your debit card by third parties when making payments in online shops.

2. WHERE CAN I PAY WITH THE MASTERCARD IDENTITY CHECK PROCEDURE?


With the Mastercard Identity Check you can use your debit card (BankCard / MegaCard) on the Internet for all merchants who
offer the payment method, to pay securely.

3. HOW CAN I REGISTER FOR THE MASTERCARD IDENTITY CHECK PROCEDURE?


Registration is only possible in internet banking.
 Log into Internet banking as usual
 Under "Cards & Services - Debit Cards", you can complete the registration in the detail display of the selected debit
card.
 Select a security question and enter the answer to this question in the text box. From now on your answer will be
demanded at every ecommerce payment on the internet with the Mastercard Identity Check procedure.
 The mobile number to which you will receive the SMS with the transaction code (3DS Code) to approve a payment on
the Internet, is the already deposited mobileTAN number.
 Read and accept the special terms and conditions for the Mastercard Identity Check and confirm them with the mo-
bileTAN.

4. DOES THE REGISTRATION FOR THE MASTERCARD IDENTITY CHECK PROCEDURE


COST ANYTHING?
No, both logging in, changes and deactivation in Internet banking are free.

5. HOW DO I PAY ON THE INTERNET WITH MY DEBIT CARD?


It's quite simple to pay in online shops with the debit card and the Mastercard Identity Check:
In case the method is offered by the merchant you need to select Mastercard Identity Check and enter the following data of
your debit card:
 Card number / PAN
 Expiration date of the debit card
 Sequence number / CVC

After entering this data, you will receive the transaction code (3DS code) by SMS to the deposited mobileTAN telephone
number or by push-to-push method when activated to the Internet banking app of Bank Austria (Mobile Banking App).
This transaction code and the response you defined when registering to the security question you have chosen must be en-
tered in the appropriate input fields.
Confirm the payment.

6. WHERE DO I FIND THE CARD NUMBER / PAN?


The card number is 19-digit and is located on the back of the debit card.

7. WHERE CAN I FIND THE CARD VERIFICATION NUMBER / CVC (CARD VALIDATION
CODE)?
This three-digit security number can be found on the back of the debit card.

8. HOW CAN I DEACTIVATE MASTERCARD IDENTITY CHECK PROCEDURE?


Deactivation is only possible in Internet banking.
 Log into Internet banking as usual.
 Under "Cards & Services - Debit Cards", you can deactivate the Mastercard Identity Check procedure in the detail dis-
play of the selected debit card.

9. WHAT HAPPENS IF I LOSE THE DEBIT CARD?


In the event of theft or loss of the debit card, it needs to be blocked immediately.

10. CAN I BLOCK THE DEBIT CARD AND CONTINUE SHOPPING ON THE INTERNET?
No, this is not possible. Once the debit card is blocked, no more internet payment with this debit card is possible.

11. CAN THE MASTERCARD IDENTITY CHECK PROCEDURE BE BLOCKED?


Yes, by deactivating. The deactivation is equivalent to a block.

12. WHO IS LIABLE FOR ABUSE?


Due to the legal regulations, the customer is only liable for intentional or grossly negligent behavior without restriction, other-
wise to a maximum of EUR 50, -.
 Always keep your debit card and your mobile phone on which the transaction code is sent carefully.
 Protect your debit card, mobile phone and internet banking from unauthorized access.
If you suspect misuse, or in case of theft or loss of your debit card, please immediately induce the blocking of your debit card
in your internet banking account or at our 24-hour service line on +43 (0) 5 05 05-25.
