Intangible Assets

A Reflection by: Panduma, Setienor B.

There are valuable things in this world that we cannot just ask for; it will take time
and effort to have it. Love, loyalty, and trust are developed through time. They
cannot be purchased, but they can be generated internally. Although they do not
have physical substance, they are valuable and identifiable. However, we cannot
restrict someone to love. We do not control other's emotions. Thus, when we love
someone but do not love us back, set him free. Because we cannot prevent someone
from loving the person he truly loves. Relationships might have finite or indefinite
existence, depending on how we work for them. When we put effort, love, and time
without excuses, surely, it will last indefinitely. Unlike in amortization/depreciation,
relationship, love, loyalty, and trust shall not be depreciated. Instead, we should
continuously work to make things better. Things must appreciate through time, just
like land. Relationships must not be impaired, but they should be regularly assessed
and evaluated for conflicts and misunderstandings. The optimal strategies to cure
any impairment in relationships are constant communication and disclosure to each
other. Any factors that adversely affect our attitude to someone should be
derecognized, and things that could probably bring happiness should be recognized.

The quality of lives that we want is in our hands. The life that we perceive in the
future cannot be bought, but they are like customer loyalty, given a lot of attention,
effort, and time. To achieve the quality that we need and want, we have to invest our
energy, skill, and knowledge to achieve the victorious life we aim for. With the
continually changing world, just like goodwill that continually changes, we should
also continuously improve ourselves.

We must make our life meaningful. We should live happily, with compassion and
purpose. Our lives are not like trademarks and patents that can be renewed or
extended. Just like identifiable with finite useful life intangible asset, we depreciate
without residual value. We do not control our lives' duration, but God has given us
patent and copyright to live the life we want. These rights should be appropriately
used with a useful purpose. These should be used to spread love and positivity to
build and develop the right image, unity, and success.
