Entrance
At the appointed time, the bridal procession begins accompanied by nuptial
music or songs. When the Bride, the Groom and the entourage have taken
their respective places, the Mass begins.
ENTRANCE HYMN
GREETINGS
Then the Priest, extending his hands, greets the people, saying:
Priest:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
The people reply:
People:
Amen.
Priest:
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion
of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
The people reply:
People:
And with your spirit.
Then follows the Penitential Act, to which the priest invites the faithful,
saying:
Priest:
Brethren (brothers and sisters), let us acknowledge our sins and so prepare
ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
Opening Prayer
Priest:
Let us pray…
Be attentive to our prayers, O Lord,
and in your kindness uphold
what you have established for the increase of the human race,
so that the union you have created
may be kept safe by your assistance.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
People: Amen.
Then the Lord God said: “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will
make a suitable partner for him.” So the Lord God formed out of the
ground various wild animals and various birds of the air, and he brought
them to the man to see what he would call them; whatever the man called
each of them would be its name. The man gave names to all the cattle, all
Responsorial Psalm
(Psalm 128)
Reader: Let our response be: Happy are those who fear the Lord.

(Ephesians 5:21–32)
There follows the Alleluia or another chant laid down by the rubrics, as the
liturgical time requires.

Gospel Acclamation
Alleluia, alleluia
Reader: Alleluia, alleluia. God is love; let us love one another as he has
loved us. Alleluia, alleluia
Meanwhile, if incense is used, the Priest puts some into the thurible. After
this, the Deacon who is to proclaim the Gospel, bowing profoundly before
the Priest, asks for the blessing, saying in a low voice:
If, however, a Deacon is not present, the Priest, bowing before the altar,
says quietly:
Celebrant/Priest:
Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim
your holy Gospel.
The Deacon or the Priest, then proceeds to the ambo, accompanied, if
appropriate, by ministers with incense and candles.
There he says:
Celebrant:
The Lord be with you.
The people reply
Commentator and People:
And with your spirit.
Gospel
(Matthew 19:3–6)
Priest: Some Pharisees approached him, and tested him, saying: “Is it
lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any cause whatsoever?” He said in
reply, “Have you not read that from the beginning, the Creator ‘made them
male and female’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and
mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’ So
they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined
together, no human being must separate.”
At the end of the Gospel, the Deacon, or the Priest, acclaims:
Homily
Rite of Marriage
Priest: Dearly beloved BRIAN and PRECIOUS you are here today to seal
your love with an eternal bond before the church. I assure you of the
prayers of our community, that God pour his abundant blessings on your
love and help you carry out the duties of the married state. And you
(addressing the congregation), dear brothers and sisters, may I ask you to
help them with your prayers and accept them as a new couple in our
Christian Community.
Scrutiny
Priest: May I now ask you to answer truthfully the following questions.
Priest: PRECIOUS, did you come here of your own free will to bind yourself
forever in the love and service of your husband?
Priest: BRIAN, did you come here of your own free will to bind yourself
forever in the love and service of your wife?
Priest: Are you both ready to raise as good Christians the children whom
God will give you?
Exchange of Consent
Priest: BRIAN and PRECIOUS since you wish to contract Holy Matrimony,
please join your right hands and express your intention before God and His
Church.
Priest: BRIAN, do you take PRECIOUS here present, for your lawful wife,
according to the rite of our Holy Mother, the Church?
Bride & Groom: Grant us, O Lord, to be one heart and one soul, from this
day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in
health, until death do us part.
Priest: And I, by the authority of the Church, calling on all those present
here as witnesses, confirm and bless the bond of marriage
which you have contracted. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, +
and of the Holy Spirit.
People: Amen.
Priest: BRIAN and PRECIOUS, we shall now bless your rings and arrhae.
Our help is in the name of the Lord.
Priest: Let us pray. Bless, + O Lord, these rings, so that your servants BRIAN
and PRECIOUS, who wear them, may ever live in mutual love and in
unbroken loyalty. Through Christ our Lord.
People: Amen.
Priest: Let us pray. Bless, + O Lord, your servants BRIAN and PRECIOUS,
with sufficiency of material possessions, which these arrhae symbolize, so
that they may use them to attain eternal life. We ask this through Christ
our Lord.
People: Amen.
The Priest sprinkles the rings and arrhae with holy water.
Groom: PRECIOUS, wear this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity. In the
name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
The Bride places the ring on the ring finger of the Groom, saying:
Bride: BRIAN, wear this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity. In the name of
the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit.
The Groom takes the Arrhae in both hands. The Bride places her cupped
hands under those of the groom. The Groom lets the arrhae fall into the
hands of the bride saying:
Priest: Dear brothers and sisters, let us now pray for the Church and for our
newly-wedded couple, whose marriage reflects the union of Christ and His
Church. For every petition we will say:
Reader: Let us pray for the Church which is the bride of Christ that she may
always be faithful in her mission of spreading the Good News of our
salvation and Christ’s love for us. We pray.
Reader: Let us pray for our government leaders that they may become
God’s instrument in protecting the family and defend life at all cost. We
pray.
Reader: Let us pray for all the needs of our brothers and sisters, the sick,
the handicapped, the prisoners and all those abandoned by their love ones,
that through their presence in our community we may be enlightened and
show our charity with love. We pray.
Reader: Let us pray for BRIAN and PRECIOUS united today in God’s love,
Priest: God our Father, look down favor upon your servants. Grant them to
remain faithful to you and to one another. At the end of a long and well-
spent life, reward them with eternal happiness, together with their children
and with all those who love them. Through Christ our Lord.
People: Amen.
* Offertory Procession
Commentator: May I request the Veil Sponsors to please lay the veil over
the couple and the Cord Sponsors to follow suit.
The Veil Sponsors lay the white veil over the head of the Bride and the
shoulders of the Groom. Finally, the Cord Sponsors place the cord over the
shoulders of the couple in an 8-form.
When all this has been done, the Offertory Chant bedins. Meanwhile, the
ministers place the corporal, the purificator, the chalice, the pall and the
Missal on the altar.
It is desirable that the faithful express their participation by making an
offering,
bringing forward bread and wine for the celebration of the Eucharist and
perhaps other gifts to relive the needs of the Church and of the poor.
The Priest, standing at the altar, takes the paten with the bread and holds it
slightly raised above the altar with both hands, saying in a low voice:
Priest:
Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we
have received the bread we offer you: fruit of the earth and work of human
hands, it will become for us the bread of life.
Then he places the paten with the bread on the corporal.
If, however, the Offertory Chant is not sung, the Priest may speak these
words aloud; at the end, the people may acclaim:
Commentator and People:
Blessed be God for ever.
The Deacon, or the Priest, pours wine and a little water into the chalice,
saying quietly:
Deacon/Priest:
By the mystery of this water and wine may we come to share in the divinity
of Christ who humbled himself to share in our humanity.
The priest then takes the chalice and holds it slightly raised above the altar
with both hands, saying in a low voice:
Priest:
Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation , for through your goodness we
have received the wine we offer you: fruit of the vine and work of human
hands, it will become our spiritual drink.
Then he places the chalice on the corporal.
If, however, the Offertory Chant is not sung, the Priest may speak these
words aloud; at the end, the people may acclaim:
Priest:
Receive, we pray, O Lord,
the offering made on the occasion
of this sealing of the sacred bond of Marriage,
and, just as your goodness is its origin,
may your providence guide its course.
Preface
Eucharistic Prayer II
Then the Priest begins the Eucharistic Prayer
Extending his hands, he says
Priest:
The Lord be with you.
The people reply
Commentator and People:
And with your spirit.
The Priest, raising his hands, continues
Priest:
Lift up your hearts.
The people
Commentator and People:
We lift them up to the Lord.
The Priest, with hands extended, adds
Priest:
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
The people
Commentator and People:
It is right and just.
The Priest, with hands extended, continues the Preface
Priest:
It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God.
Sanctus
At the end of the Preface he joins his hands and concludes the Preface with
the people, singing or saying aloud
Commentator and People:
Holy, holy, holy Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
Consecration
Commentator:
Please kneel.
The Priest, with hands extended, says
Priest:
You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.
He joins his hands and, holding them extended over the offerings, says
Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon
them like the dewfall,
He joins his hands and makes the Sign of the Cross once over the bread and
the chalice together, saying
So that they may become for us the Body and + Blood of our Lord, Jesus
Christ.
Then he says
Priest:
The mystery of faith.
Commentator
Please Remain Kneeling (Except the couple who remains kneeling).
(In the Philippines) People may rise

and continue, acclaiming
Commentator and People:
We proclaim your Death, O Lord, and profess your resurrection until you
come again.
Then the Priest, with hands extended, says
Priest:
Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his Death and Resurrection, we
offer you, Lord, the Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation, giving thanks
that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you.
Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ, we may be
gathered into one b y the Holy Spirit.
Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world, and bring her
to the fullness of charity, together with + Francis our Pope and +Oscar, our
Military Bishop and all the clergy.
In Eucharistic Prayer II, after the words and all the clergy, the following is
added:
Be mindful also, Lord, of BRIAN and PRECIOUS
Whom you have brought to their wedding day
So that by your grace
They may abide in mutual love and in peace
Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope
of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy: welcome them
into the light of your face.
Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of
God, with the blessed Apostles, and all the Saints who have pleased you
throughout the ages, we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life, and may
praise and glorify you
He joins his hands
through your Son, Jesus Christ.
He takes the chalice and the paten with the host and raising both, he says
Through Him, and with Him, and in Him, O God, almighty Father, in the
unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours, for ever and ever.
The people acclaim
Commentator and People:
Amen.
After the Our Father the prayer deliver us is omitted. The priest, standing
and facing the bride and the bridegroom invokes upon them God’s blessing,
and this is never omitted.
In the invitation, if one or both of the spouses will not be receiving
communion, the words in parenthesis are omitted. In the prayer, the words
in parenthesis may be omitted if it seems that circumstances suggest it, for
example, if the bride and bridegroom are advanced in years.
The bride and bridegroom approach the altar or, if appropriate,
they remain at their place and kneel.
The priest with hands joined calls upon those present to pray saying:
Priest: Let us pray to the Lord for his bride and groom who come to the
altar as they begin their married life, that (partaking of the body and blood
of Christ) they may always be bound together by love for one another
And all pray in silence for a while.
Holy Father,
who formed man in your own image,
male and female you created them,
so that as husband and wife, united in body and heart,
they might fulfill their calling in the world;
O God, who, to reveal the great design you formed in your love,
willed that the love of spouses for each other
should foreshadow the covenant you graciously made with your people,
so that, by fulfillment of the sacramental sign,
the mystical marriage of Christ with his Church
might become manifest in the union of husband and wife among your
faithful;
Grant, O Lord,
that, as they enter upon this sacramental union,
they may share with one another the gifts of your love
and, by being for each other a sign of your presence,
become one heart and one mind.
The prayer Lord Jesus Christ is omitted, and The peace of the Lord is said
immediately.
Then the bride and bridegroom and all present offer a sign, in keeping with
local
customs, that expresses peace, communion and charity.
Sign of Peace
The Priest , turned towards the people, extending and then joining his
hands, adds
Priest:
The peace of the Lord be with you always.
The people reply
Commentator and Priest:
And with your spirit.
Then if appropriate, the Deacon, or the Priest, adds
Priest:
Let us offer each other the sign of peace.
And all offer one another a sign, in keeping with local customs, that
expresses peace,
Communion, and charity. The Priest gives the sign of peace to a Deacon or
minister

Breaking of the Bread
Then he takes the host, breaks it over the pate, and places a small piece in
the chalice, saying quietly:
Priest:
May this mingling of the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus bring eternal life
to us who receive it.
AGNUS DEI
Meanwhile the following is sung or said:
Commentator and Congregation:
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.
The invocation may even be repeated several times if the fraction is
prolonged.
Only the final time, however, is grant us peace said.
Then the priest, with hands joined, says quietly:
Commentator:
Please kneel.
The Priest genuflects , takes the host and, holding it slightly raised above
the paten or above the chalice, while facing the people, says aloud:
Priest:
Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world.
Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
And together with the people he adds once:
Commentator and People:
Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the
word and my soul shall be healed.
The Priest, facing the altar, says quietly:
Priest:
May the Body of Christ keep me safe for eternal life.
And he reverently consumes the Body of Christ.
Then he takes the chalice and says quietly:
May the Blood of Christ keep me safe for eternal life.
First, the Priest gives communion to the couple possibly on both kinds of
Body and Blood. Then, he gives Holy Communion to the people.
After this, he takes the paten or ciborium and approaches the
communicants. The Priest raises a host slightly and shows it to each of the
communicants, saying:
Priest:
The Body of Christ.
The communicant replies.
Communicant:
Amen.
Commentator: May I ask the Cord and Veil Sponsors to remove the cord
and the veil.
Priest:
Let us pray…
Concluding Rites
Admonition
Priest: BRIAN and PRECIOUS, now that you have received the Holy
Sacrament of Matrimony, I admonish you to remain faithful to one another.
Priest: BRIAN, love your wife as Christ loves his Church and live with her in
the holy fear of the Lord.
Solemn Blessing
The Priest, with hands extended over the bride and bridegroom, says:
Priest: May God the all-powerful Father grant you his joy and bless
you in your children.
People: Amen.
Priest: May the Only Begotten Son of God stand by you with
compassion in good times and in bad.
People: Amen.
Priest: May the Holy Spirit of God always pour forth his love into your
hearts.
Priest: And may almighty God bless all of you, who are gathered here,
the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
People: Amen.
Dismissal
Then the Deacon, or the Priest himself, with hands joined and facing the
people, says:
Priest:
Go forth, the Mass is ended.
The people reply:
Then the Priest venerates the altar as usual with a kiss, as at the beginning.
After making a profound bow with the ministers, he withdraws.
Commentator: Please all be seated, while the Bride, the Groom, the Priest
and the Sponsors sign the Marriage Contract.
