PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

Divine Holy Spirit, Creator and Renewer of all things, Life of my life, with Mary most holy I adore
you, I thank you, I love you! You give life and vivify the whole universe. Preserve me in good health; free
me from the illnesses which threaten it and all the evils which endanger it. Come, Holy Spirit. Inflame us
with the fire of your love, so that we will be able to humbly and courageously discern the good and evil
present in the society. Help us to listen to your words with the docile attitude of the disciples, and to be
ready, like Mary, the attentive Virgin, to make those words bear fruit in the form of holiness in our
personal lives, in our families and in our society. Make us receptive to Christ, who knocks on the door of
our heart and transform us into ardent dwelling places of God. Come, Holy Spirit. Pour out the power of
your grace on the Pope and on his bishops, so that, with evangelical wisdom and apostolic courage that
they will be able to show everyone how to respond to today’s challenges according to the plan of God.
Bestow your seven gifts on all those called to work on the Lord’s vineyard: priests, deacons, those
consecrated to the service of witnessing your kingdom, Christian families and all the faithful. Work in us
so that our lives might be a sign of a new humanity, reconciled in truth and love, to the praise and glory of
the Father. Come, Holy Spirit and renew the face of the earth. Amen.

INTRODUCTORY RITES

INTRODUCTION
Commentator : Dear brothers and sisters: Good morning. Today we commemorate the feast of
Pentecost where the apostles receive the Holy Spirit as the mark of the official
start of their mission. And in this celebration we also celebrate the start of the
official opening of the academic year 2016-2017. The presence of the Spirit is a
guarantee that their and our mission will not simply be a human endeavor but the
work of God, the continuation of Jesus’ saving mission.
The “tongues of fire” mark the apostles’ inner transformation. Since they
are to communicate God to others, God must be present in them like fire that
enflames frozen hearts and shines through the darkness of sin and unbelief.
God has graced us with the presence of our dear school President Most
Rev. Precioso D. Cantillas, SBD, D.D and school director Rev. Fr. Merwin L.
Kangleon to lead us in our celebration. Let us all stand for the entrance hymn

Lector (Second) : SEQUENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Come, Holy Spirit, come!
And from your celestial home
Shed a ray of light divine!

Come, Father of the poor!

Come, source of all our store!
Come, within our bosoms shine!

You, of comforters the best;

You, the soul’s most welcome quest;
Sweet refreshment here below;

In our labor, rest most sweet;

Grateful coolness in the heat;
Solace in the midst of woe.
O most blessed Light divine,
Shine within these hearts of yours,
And our inmost being fill!

Where you are not, we have naught,

Nothing good in deed or thought,
Nothing free from taint of ill.

Heal our wounds, our strength renew;

On our dryness pour your dew;
Wash the stains of guilt away:

Bend the stubborn heart and will;

Melt the frozen, warm the chill;
Guide the steps that go astray.

On the faithful, who adore

And confess you, evermore
In your sevenfold gift descend;

Give them virtue’s sure reward;

Give them your salvation, Lord;
Give them joys that never end. Amen.
