AGREEMENT ON GOVERNMENT PROCUREMENT


AS AMENDED BY THE PROTOCOL DONE AT GENEVA ON 30 MARCH 2012

NOTIFICATION OF ACCESSION

We have the honour to inform you that, pursuant to Article XXII:2 of the Agreement on
Government Procurement as amended by the Protocol Amending the Agreement on Government
Procurement, done at Geneva on 30 March 2012 (the "Agreement"), and the decisions of the
Committee on Government Procurement dated 27 February and 26 June 2019, and 7 October 2020
(documents GPA/CD/2, GPA/CD/2/Add.1 and GPA/CD/2/Add.2, respectively), the Agreement has
entered into force for the United Kingdom in its own right on 1 January 2021. As of the same
date, the United Kingdom has become a Party to the Agreement in its own right.1

This depositary notification is furnished in accordance with paragraph 17 of Article XXII of the
Agreement and paragraph 4 of the aforementioned Protocol.

As announced (WT/Let/1498), the instrument of accession deposited by the United Kingdom on
2 December 2020 concerned both the Agreement on Government Procurement as amended by the Protocol
Amending the Agreement on Government Procurement, done at Geneva on 30 March 2012, as well as the
Agreement on Government Procurement, done at Marrakesh on 15 April 1994 (the "1994 Agreement"). With the
entry into force of the aforementioned Protocol for Switzerland on 1 January 2021, all GPA Parties have accepted
the Protocol. Accordingly, pursuant to paragraph 1 of the aforementioned Protocol, from 1 January 2021 the
Agreement on Government Procurement as amended by the aforementioned Protocol has replaced the 1994
Agreement in relation to all GPA Parties (WT/Let/1497).
