SUBJECT PERSONAL HYGIENE & VESSEL CLEANLINESS

As of the recent Senior Management Visit that been conducted to PTAS AMANAH 8
last week on 23rd January 2015,

It was apparent that Cleanliness and Hygiene of the crews towards the PTAS Amanah
Vessels has not been taken seriously and lack of ownership.

You SHALL ensure that the cleanliness and hygiene of your respective vessels are
maintained accordingly to the standards required by PTAS Marine, BSP and Flag
State.

Failure to maintain the required standards mentioned above may result in


disciplinary action as per the constitutions regulated by the Warta Kerajaan of
Negara Brunei Darussalam.

Below are some of the items that need to be look into for maintaining the
cleanliness and hygiene onboard, these are only guidelines as there may be more
to be considered.

1. All toilets (WC) onboard must be cleaned daily. Captains & Chief Officer are to
prepare Daily Cleaning Rosters and assign the crews for daily accommodation
cleaning, this is to include public or general use toilet (WC). Water stained toilet
bowls to be washed properly.

2. Galley: The galley must be cleaned and mopped every day.

3. No unnecessary people in the GALLLEY during cooking ( Galley is NOT A HANGOUT


area)

4. Refrigerator in the Galley to be properly cleaned and arranged

5. Washing the cut resistant gloves properly and soaking them in the boiling hot water
once a day to sterilized these gloves

6. Hot Plate Stove oven to be cleaned with oven cleaner at least 2 times a Week.

7. Any outdated/ worn out foods should be remove immediately. (Chief Officer
required to check)

8. Segregation of the provision stores and cold rooms/freezer including removal of


cardboard boxes.

9. Cleaning & defrosting the cold room at least once a week.

10. Any waste or garbage required to segregate accordingly.

11. SMOKING: IT WAS CLEARLY STATED IN THE 12 LIFE SAVING RULES NO.8 “DO NOT
SMOKING OUTSIDE DESIGNATED
AREAS”
 ANYBODY CAUGHT SMOKING OUTSIDE DESIGNATED AREA, WILL BE TAKEN TO
DISCIPLINARY ACTION &
CONSEQUENCEMANAGEMENT
 SMOKING IS ONLY ALLOWED AT THE DESIGNATED AREA WHICH IS OUTSIDE, AT THE
DECK
 NO SMOKING INSIDE THE GALLY & NO SMOKING INSIDE THE CREWS CABIN .

Masters, Chief Officers & Chief Engineers

Are strongly advised to take this MATTER seriously and ENFORCE the Cleanliness &
Hygiene onboard vessels to all the crews.
