story, having students guess what is in your mystery box, completing a science

students. Ask them questions like why? How? What do you think?)

The teacher will start to read the book Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss. This week, the
teacher is talking about and doing Dr. Seuss inspired activities. The teacher has been
going over who Dr. Seuss is and what makes his books special. The teacher will ask the
students questions while reading the story. (15 minutes)

Student Engagement/Practice: (students are engaged: This is the biggest time portion
of your lesson. Here is where students are in centers, completing science labs, working
individually or in groups. You as the teacher are now walking around the room as a
facilitator guiding them)
The teacher will ask the students some discussion questions. For example, Do you not
like something? What is that item? The teacher will talk about a food that she did not
think she would like. The teacher will tell them how eventually she tried it and she liked
it. The students will talk about the main theme of the story and how it connects to their
own life. (10 minutes)

Closure: (closing the lesson: this should be 1-5 minutes. This is a re-cap of your
objective. Some examples would be reading a story and identifying the nouns, asking
them what is the difference between a gas, solid and liquid, etc …)

The teacher will go over the main idea of the story. The students will answer her
questions regarding the story. The teacher will briefly go over their homework
assignment that they are doing that night. The teacher will end with some Dr. seuss facts
