SUMMARY OF TOPICS

The following changes in requirements to the Standard for Flow Control Valves for Anhydrous
Ammonia and LP-Gas, UL 125, are being proposed:

1. LP-Gas Quick Connect Hose (Stab Type) Nozzle Valves and Filter Valves, New 21.7

2. LP-Gas Quick Connect Hose (Stab Type) Nozzle Valves and Filter Valves, New 15.7 and
15.8

For your convenience in review, proposed additions to existing requirements are shown underlined and
proposed deletions are shown lined-out.

1. LP-Gas Quick Connect Hose (Stab Type) Nozzle Valves and Filter Valves, New 21.7

RATIONALE

Proposal submitted by: David Stainbrook, Engineered Controls International Inc.

All comments from the preliminary review were considered.

Envelope dimensions for the new design quick connect (stab type) LP-Gas Hose Nozzle Valve outlet
connection are needed to insure safe connect/disconnect when connecting to the quick connect (stab
type) filler valve. The envelope dimensions for the outlet connection must be controlled by UL 125
(similar to the dimensions published in 17.1 for actuated liquid withdrawal excess flow valves).

PROPOSAL

21.7 An LP-Gas hose nozzle valve with quick connect (stab type) connection shall incorporate envelope
dimensions necessary to safely connect and disconnect to quick connect (stab type) connection filter
valves in 15.8.

2. LP-Gas Quick Connect Hose (Stab Type) Nozzle Valves and Filter Valves, New 15.7 and 15.8

RATIONALE

Proposal submitted by: David Stainbrook, Engineered Controls International Inc.

Envelope dimensions are needed for the new design quick connect (stab type) filler valve that will
connect to the lever operated self-closing fuel transfer valve with quick connect (stab type) connection
used to dispense LP-Gas into a container on a vehicle. This will insure that filler valves and hose nozzle

valves with quick connect (stab type) connections will connect and disconnect correctly regardless of
the manufacturer. In addition the quick connect (stab type) filler valve must meet many same safety
requirements called out for ACME threaded filler valves in order to provide and equivalent level of
safety that the current filler valves provide.

PROPOSAL

15.7 Filter valves with a quick connect (stab type) connection used to dispense LP-Gas into a container
on a vehicle shall comply with 15.1 (a), (b), 15.2, and 15.5.

(NEW)

15.8 An LP-Gas filler valve with a quick connect (stab type) connection shall incorporate envelope
dimensions necessary to safely connect and disconnect to a quick connect (stab type) connection of a
hose nozzle valve in 21.7.
