THE STRATEGIC APPROACH TO STANDARDIZED TESTING - PMP® Certification

Exam Strategies
1. Pick the low hanging fruit first (one minute or less).
2. Manage your pace at one question per minute or less.
3. If not low hanging fruit, skip it. Select a place holder answer. Mark the question.
4. Review skipped (marked) questions.
5. Do a random review of questions (looking for stupid mistakes).

Question Strategies
1. Read the last sentence first.
2. Read the whole question, if necessary.
3. Pause and consider the following:
a. What Knowledge Area am I being tested on?
i. For example, if you can determine you’re being tested on Cost, the correct
answer will be a cost answer, not a quality or a risk answer.
b. Where am I in the project?
i. In other words, what process group am I in? Planning? Executing? Closing?
c. What is the threat or issue I’m being questioned on?
i. Consider the problem
4. Read all four answers.
5. Eliminate answers that you can
6. Pick the best of those remaining
