PAOLINO, Geronimo’s young secretary (Tenor)

A minimum of 12 students will be admitted into attendance based on merit.

The singers and pianists admitted to the Master, selected through audition, in addition to obtaining
the Master’s degree, the singers and pianists selected by audition will have the extraordinary
opportunity to be protagonists of the opera.

SINGERS

The object of the Masters is to perfect the fundamentals of interpretation and theatrical vocal style
in the Italian Bel Canto tradition.
PIANISTS

The Masters aims at acquiring the techniques for accompanying the opera singer in all the phases of
musical preparation, including performing recitatives, solo airs and ensemble parts, skills which are
necessary for the position of OPERA COACH or ASSISTANT OPERA COACH. The pianists will
also collaborate in the staging of the opera and will be present at the performances.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:

• Second level academic diploma obtained from the Music Conservatories and the IMP
• Diploma of Conservatory of the Previous Legal System, together with the diploma of upper
secondary school or equivalent title
• Master's or Postgraduate degree, or other degree issued abroad recognized as suitable according to
current legislation
The selection process permits, on a space-availabile basis, provisional admission and attendance to
graduate and/or undergraduate students, as long as the degree required for attendance is obtained in
time to participate in the course.

Simultaneous enrollment in a Master's course and other courses of study at AFAM institutions is not
allowed. However, students may be able to take a leave of absence in accordance with procedures
established by the institution.

ATTENDANCE FEE – the cost of the course is € 2,200.

At least one scholarship will be awarded.

APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION:

by midnight on March 5, 2021 – and must include the following attachments:
• Complete personal data
• Photocopy of identity document
• Copy/self-certification of the degree
• Curriculum vitae et studiorum
• For foreign students: documentation of the evaluation of their title, with the necessary official
translations and legalized by the Italian Representations (Embassies or Consulates). If they are
unable to submit the above documentation, EU candidates will be able to avail themselves of self-
certification, while candidates from outside the EU will have to attach to this declaration the list of
exams taken.

AUDITION PROGRAM

SINGERS:
3 arias with recitatives from the Bel Canto repertoire, one of which is taken from the works of W. A.
Mozart, and one, preferably, taken from The Secret Marriage of D. Cimarosa.

PIANISTS:
a) 2 arias and 2 selections from Il Matrimonio Segreto and
b) sightreading of a passage chosen by the commission.
AUDITION SCHEDULE FOR SINGERS

• In person auditions on March 13, 2021, in the Auditorium of the Conservatory "F. Morlacchi" in
Perugia, from 10.30 am
• Given the health emergency still in force, in case it is not possible to be present, it is also possible
to participate by sending the program in audio-video format by March 5, 2021 to both email
addresses:

The videos must contain all the required songs, be shot with fixed camera and without cuts.

FOR PIANISTS

• Auditions will take place in person only. If this is not possible due to the ongoing health crisis, the
committee will attempt to reschedule the audition.

DURATION AND SEQUENCE OF THE COURSE

The Masters will start at the end of March; the dates and times of the lessons will be communicated
promptly as soon as the ranking of admitted students is drawn up.
The lessons will be organized in weekly workshops scheduled to ensure that those students who are
not living in Perugia may also attend.
There will be 3 exams before a committee made up of faculty from the Masters program.
The degree will be granted upon acquisition of all the required credits, and after passing the final
exam.
The final exam consists of participation in the public performances of Il Matrimonio Segreto,
staging curated by M° Bruno de Simone.

Rehearsals for the staging of the opera will take place in September 2021 in the theater with M° de
Simone.

The Masters course ends with the performance at the Teatro Morlacchi in Perugia. In addition to the
first performance, performances are planned in other theaters.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS

The minimum attendance required is 80%.

Given the continuing health emergency, there may be changes to the timetable for lessons and
staging. Any changes will be promptly communicated to the enrolled students.
