Project Overview

This project requires you to implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures,
and programs to meet legislative requirements. This includes:
1. Delivering a safety induction in the workplace
2. Reviewing WHS information from the workplace
3. Conducting a WHS consultation
4. Implementing and monitoring risk control procedures

COMPLETING THIS PROJECT IN THE WORKPLACE

Wherever possible, this project must be completed in your own workplace,


including the gathering of evidence.
Where a current workplace is not available, you must conduct your project
assessment in an environment where conditions are typical of those
experienced in a training and assessment environment, including access to
resources outlined here: Resources Required for Assessment (Hold Ctrl

Instructions to the Candidate

To complete this project, you will need to secure necessary permissions from your
workplace supervisor to complete the activities and requirements included in this
project within the workplace.
Discuss and confirm with your supervisor that your workplace is able to provide you
with access to the resources outlined below before proceeding with this project.
Read the instructions provided in this project carefully before proceeding.
Resources Required for Assessment:
To complete this project, you will need:
 A workplace or an environment where conditions are typical of those
experienced in a business setting that will allow candidate access to:
 Workplace supervisor
 Documentation of organisational policies, procedures and programs
 At least two (2) current (within the last five years) work health and
safety documentation in the workplace
These may include but are not limited to:
 Accident/incident reports
 Hazard identification forms
 Risk registers

 At least two (2) relevant people in the workplace to deliver a safety


induction with
It must include at least one (1) worker from the organisation and any
of the following:
 your supervisor
 work health and safety representatives
 managers
 At least three (3) relevant personnel from the workplace to participate
in a WHS consultation
They must include at least two (2) work health and safety advisors and
representatives, and your supervisor and/or another colleague.

Part 1 – Deliver a Safety Induction

For this part of the assessment, you will be preparing and delivering a safety
induction to relevant people from the organisation to inform them of the
legislative, regulatory and organisational requirements for workplace health and
safety.
Specifically, this part of the assessment will involve:
a. Accessing and reviewing workplace health and safety legislation,
regulations, codes of practice, and organisational policies, procedures, and
programs. You will use this information to prepare a safety induction pack.
b. Deliver a safety induction to at least two (2) relevant people from the
workplace using the information prepared. You will need to obtain feedback
from them after the induction.
Ensure to appropriately obtain necessary permissions and make arrangements
from these people before commencing with the tasks.

Task 1: Prepare the Safety Induction Pack

For this part of the assessment, you will need to prepare and deliver a safety
induction in the workplace. Seek your supervisor’s assistance with opportunities to
deliver a safety induction.
Read the instructions carefully before proceeding.
Steps to take:
1. Access the following work health and safety legislation which applies to the
State/Territory where your workplace is located:
 Work Health and Safety Act
 Work Health and Safety Regulations
 At least two (2) Codes of Practice applicable in the workplace
2. From each of the following legislation, gather information on each of the
following requirements:
 Work Health and Safety Act
o At least two (2) WHS duties of the employer or PCBU
o At least two (2) WHS duties of the employee or worker
 Work Health and Safety Regulations
o At least two (2) requirements on the consultation and participation of
workers
o At least two (2) requirements for general risk and workplace
management
 Codes of Practice
o At least two (2) requirements from each Code of Practice specified

section of this workbook.

3. Your Safety Induction Pack must also contain details on the following:
a. Definition and importance of workplace health and safety
b. The four (4) steps of risk management and a brief description of each
step
c. Definition and importance of effective WHS consultation mechanism in
managing work health and safety risks
d. Two (2) WHS programs in the workplace and a brief description of what
each is about
e. Two (2) WHS policies in the workplace and an outline of their
procedures
f. Where and how to access WHS information in the workplace
Ensure to document all information in the safety induction pack in a language
and structure that is easy to understand and suitable for the audience.
4. Have your workplace supervisor sign the Supervisor’s Declaration at the
end of the completed template before delivering induction. Their signature
must be hand-signed.

Task 2: Deliver a Safety Induction

For this part of the assessment, you are required to deliver a safety induction to
relevant personnel in the workplace.
Read the instructions carefully before proceeding.
Steps to take:
Make arrangements with your supervisor and the relevant personnel to be able
to conduct a safety induction in the workplace. Ensure that you have
appropriately secured the date, time and venue (e.g. boardroom) for the
induction.
Using the safety induction pack you prepared in Task 1, deliver a safety induction
to the following to at least two (2) workplace personnel. These may include:
at least one (1) worker from the organisation (required)
and any of the following:
your supervisor
work health and safety representatives
managers
Ensure to deliver the information using language and structure suitable for the
participants.
Provide the participants with a copy of the Induction Feedback Form. Have
them complete this and submit to you at the end of the induction.
Save and submit the completed feedback forms. Use the following filenames:
