“Human Computer Interaction is a discipline concerned with the design, evaluation and
implementation of interactive computer systems for human use and with the study of major
phenomena surrounding them”

o Human Computer Interaction focuses on the interactions between human and computer systems,
including the user interface and the underlying processes which produce the interactions.

o The contributing disciplines include computer science, cognitive science, human factors, software
engineering, management science, psychology, sociology, and anthropology.

o “ It is a wide variety of different kind of people and not just technical specialists as in the past, so
it is important to design HCI that supports the needs, knowledge and skills of the intended users”
