S1. For this survey question I am in between if my expectations of this course been meet.

First,
my expectations for this subject would be a hands-on utilization when it comes to computer
software and programs. By this matter, it will help me to enhance more my skills in utilizing the
computer as it would help me in my work experience specially in the current trends in our work
where technology is being utilized as part of our teaching pedagogy. But global effect of this
pandemic which has affected the educational systems worldwide, leading to the closures of
school and transforming from the traditional face to face classes to modular or online learning
modality had disrupted my expectations on this subjects. This online learning modality had been
used in our subject and we can’t disagree on the mode of delivery as it is one of the preventive
measure to be safe from this pandemic.
S2. Among the challenges that I experience in the Google Classroom was the very obvious low
internet connection that we experience in our area. It really does affect my performance in our
online classroom during this semester in a way that I can’t immediately access the video
presentation being uploaded in the google classroom. As a result, I usually submit my Summary
and Response the date after the deadline. I still have to stay awake at midnight since that’s the
only time where I could access the video continuously without being interrupted by the internet
connection.
Students teacher’s interaction is limited, explanations of the content of the report is limited, and
the flow of thoughts and interaction is hindered are some of the challenges that I experience in
the Google Classroom.
S3. The factors that need to be improved when setting up Google Classroom for online delivery
are as follows: (1) Consider the access to devices and the internet of the students this would
allow for a smooth connection and no students is left behind; (2) Provide Online instructions to
students needs and abilities; (3) Keep data privacy and security a priority; and lastly (4) Give
considerations to students when some requirements done late.
Q1. Among the three (3) topics that I believe to be the most relevant for the search of knowledge
in the context of Covid-19’s global pandemic is the following: Introduction to visual learning
environment, The use of green technology for online classroom video, and lastly School
Preparedness in Integrating ICT). This three topic is the most relevant as it introduces us to the
new normal classes in which we will use blended learning system where we will have online
classes and modular classes. Blended learning has been pushed further as a solution that
addresses the challenges of learning continuity amidst school closure in this time of the
pandemic.
Q2. With the questions “What is more effective between traditional learning approach and a
virtual learning approach?” considering the situations that we have in our area I stand still in the
idea that traditional learning approach is more effective than virtual learning approach. This idea
of mine comes with the reality that our education setting here in Lanao del Sur cannot really
adopt the new trends in learning approach which is the virtual learning. This is prevalent in the
current situations that we are experiencing because of the pandemic, as much as we try to
incorporate virtual learning in our teaching environments students access to devices and internet
is not observable. Problems and complains from both students and parents is very common. Even
teachers find it difficult to utilize this virtual learning because of the lack of technological skills
and manipulation of the technology as well. Hence, teaching in a classroom setting may be on its
way of becoming a method of the past, but for me a suitable training tool needed for the future. It
allows students to engage in any type of classroom setting in a real, tangible, touchable place for
them to teach and learn.
Q3. Among the benefits of ICT in education are as follows: First, technology helps children to
stay motivated during the learning process. For example, students are motivated because they are
being introduced to this new learning approached which allowing them to think on their own
while answering the activities. The second one, it encourages more communication between
teachers and parents. Communication is very easy in both teachers and parents because in just a
second teacher can communicate with the parents regarding on the status of their children by
providing the data needed by the students, and vice versa. Third, it creates new ways to learn for
today’s student. Because of the arrival of technology, the learning environment is changing also.
For example, students have more options they just need a data connection or Wi-Fi and they
learn at their most convenient time. Fourth, technology allows us to give students access to data
from a single location. Even students are in a far area; they still can access the data without going
to the school or approaching the teacher. They just need to have an internet connections and
access it. And the last one technology helps to prepare students for their future world.
Technology help them to face the real world experience where technology is very useful.
For the drawbacks of ICT in education: (a) the presence of technology can be distracting
to students; it can make it easier to cheat because students may use their phone to capture the
answer of their classmates and spread it to the other and the result they all have the same answer;
(b) using technology can cause some students to disconnect from the classroom because some
students are using their technology for other purposes like for online gaming such as mobile
legends and PUBG instead of educational purposes. (c) Another disadvantages also some
students may not know the difference between reliable and unreliable resources since in our
generations today in just a second thousands of resources can be access easily and students did
not give time to read and clarify if the resources from the internet is reliable. They just tend to
copy and paste it without even reading it. (d) Technology is a resource that not all families can
afford is one disadvantages also. Nowadays, there are still people who really can’t afford to buy
android phone because of their status in life. (e) For some instances technology in the classroom
could create medical problems for some kids because of the radiation coming from it.
Q4. Among the obvious problems associated with the use of social media in the workplace are as
follows: employees can use social media for non-business matters for example they keep on
scrolling through their social media accounts during working hours and makes them
unproductive in the workplace; everything you post on social media becomes a permanent
content. This happen when you post something and being interpreted by others the way you
posted it. For example, replying to students’ quires somewhat interpreted by the students that you
are being angry to them. Third problems, as some point we express our views in social media
accounts when we are being frustrated at work. Thus it gives opinion and ideas to others that lead
to a negative thought against your workplace. Fourth problems, no access to social media
accounts as there are some seminar requires you to attain to are done virtually through this social
media accounts. And lastly, social media is highly addictive. People who used to entertain
themselves by photos, posts, and videos from social media end up using it more and eventually
become addicted to it.
Q5. Technology had played a major role in responding to the COVID 19. Technology
innovation and transformation is used to fight against Covid 19 because people nowadays used
technology to continue doing their work at home. People are now using technology to keep their
daily life operations. Messaging applications, video conferencing, virtual meeting and of course
the internet has made it possible to work from home. Open Educational Resource (OER) of the
DepEd has been pushed further as a solution that addresses the challenges in the continuity of
education despite of the closure school worldwide. This OER allows the learners to learn and
work from home in this matter it will lessen the chances that they being exposed to the virus.
Same with the teacher, they are given opportunity to do work from home so that they will not be
exposed as well. Aside from that the OER enhances the capacity building of teacher’s digital
literacy skills.
