Exercise N°01:
Decide whether the underlined words in the following sentences are : direct object (Do) or
indirect object ( Io) complement subject ( Cs) or complement object ( Co)

1- After he gave her a rowing lesson, he felt tired.


2- We consider them sisters.
3- The students seemed tired after the long lecture.
4- We finished our homework before dinner.
5- The salad tasted better after you added the horseradish.
6- Ron gave me some paints, a few brushes, and a large pad to practice with.
7- The soup that my grandmother made smells spicy.

Exercise N°02:
Decide whether the underlined verbs are stative or dynamic at the first step the extensive or
intensive:

1- English and German are separated languages


2- His mother- in –law was driving his mad
3- I didn’t tell anybody anything
4- He appeared rather worried
5- I love football
6- I can’t get my hand warm
7- The weather is turning warmer
8- Show me your passport
9- I see what you mean.
10- They understand the matter wrongly.

Exercise N°03:
Indicate by Od,Oi, Cs or Co whether the underlined elements are direct Object, indirect O,
subject C, or object complement and whether verbs are mono transitive, ditransitive ,
complex transitive or intransitive.

1. Tomorrow will be a holiday.


2. They had found him a charming young wife.
3. We all read too many books.
4. He grew his hair long.
5. The hot weather turned the milk sour.
