Point
“Philosophy place a big role in our Filipino Values”
Reason
Every people has it own existential postulates, as the anthropologists testify. The
valueof philosophy is also an aspect of Filipino thought. In the first place the word philosophy
has various definitions; Aristotle and the traditionalists define philosophy as the science of first
causes. But the modern philosophers, especially the existentialists, are for the plurality of
definition, each according to its meaningfulness of life as the individual philosopher sees it, and
also concerned with people’s world view, namely to explain the reasons behind a particular
people’s way of thinking and behaving.
Explanation
Philosophy has had tremendous impact in our Filipino Values. It is either our cultural
values, ambivalent values, double standard mentality and false norm of morality. As we all know,
values are the motive power behind purposeful action. Without values, one could not act, and
death would follow. That is why if we acquired philosophy to our way of life, we can be able to
attain the true value of truth where one has to be able to accept its corresponding consequences.
We can make crimes or delinquencies as an example. When one commits a mistake that is
against the law, and has been proven of doing so with the rightful due process, he shall be dealt
accordingly. Laws and any other discipline are all powered by philosophy.
Point
The present situation of the country can be deemed as results of the Filipino values in
their own way of thinking because they have far greater influence and impact on the way of life of
the people. In retrospect, not only is the wisdom of philosophy a higher value to be taken seriously
in full extremes, but also it is life itself. It is truly beyond my comprehension of how just wonderful
the world we live have come so far. We indeed live different upbringings, but because of common
philosophies that we believe in, we still live in full harmony.
