 Point
“Philosophy as reflected in Filipino Thoughts”
 Reason

Every people has a world view, which is how a people views reality from
their perspective. It is like viewing outside the window from the inside. Now if
the view is from the outside to the inside, that is culture. Filipino Philosophy is
the attitude, worldview, and notion of the natural citizens of the Philippines
towards the day-to-day experiences in life, religion, communication, survival,
interrelationship with people and intra-relationship with his sakop or to oneself –
the “I,” and the uplifting of one’s soul – the Filipino being.
 Explanation

Filipinos can adjust to whatever there is because they are packed with
different personalities. Just like philosophy, it adjusts to every what there is
because it was made to be applicable or idealistic. Philosophy is also packed
with different philosophers. Filipino can understand many things because of the
big efforts they have. Just like philosophy, it makes man to be more
understandable of things. Filipino have this personality of “diskarte” which means
they have the capacity to make reasons if they want just to escape about
something. Just like philosophy, it is made for man to be reasonable. If there is
the western philosophy there could be also a Filipino philosophy for it has the
attributes of a philosophy.
 Point

Filipino philosophy is not so much a philosophy about Filipinos as it is a

philosophy for Filipinos: a way of doing philosophy whose primary objective is to
enlarge the Filipino public‟s view regarding social issues that have great
philosophical import as well as traditional philosophical concerns that have wide
social impact. In line with this, we should already stop asking what counts as Filipino
philosophy since it is a question that admits of no absolutely correct answer as
much as it derails Filipino philosophers from focusing their work on offering real
philosophical value to Philippine society. Rather, what should be asked by any
philosopher in the country is this: How can I as a Filipino philosopher do philosophy
in such a way that it benefits my fellow countrymen and women? Constantly
confronting this question is in the end how Filipino philosophy will fruitfully develop.
