Employees Training and Development in
Information Technologies (IT) companies
(NDS Technologies Pvt. Ltd.) of Karachi –
From 2018 to 2021
Research Questions:
Following are the research questions.

1) What is the relationship between staff trainings and employees’ performance and productivity?
2) Why training and development is essential in IT companies?
3) How HR management design accurate training and skills development methods with the challenges
that most IT companies of Karachi are facing?
4) What are the most used solutions / methods of training & development that have effect on
employees’ performance and productivity?

Problem Statement
In this study training and development refer as the physical and psychological activities that enhance the
employee current skills to desirable level in which he/she can perform their duties efficient and effective
way. Information Technologies (IT) organizations consider as companies that provide IT hardware and
software related solution for their clients. Our aim is to study the problems of Human Resource
department in organizing, designing and implementing training and staff development activities in IT
organizations of Karachi and how a human resource manager come up with the solution related to these
problems in order to enhance the productivity of current employee specially in profitable organizations.

Information Technologies (IT) evolution bring new innovation and creativity in the society which not only
beneficial for the business financially but also helps customers to have better choices of products and
services as per their need and wants. The IT changes rapidly and IT professionals required continuous
training and development in order to maintain their business operations competitive in the market. Now,
the human resource management (HRM) plays very important role in building, designing and developing
effective and efficient training and development methods for their internal team so they adapt the
required skills and abilities to perform their job at desirable level.

Indeed, the success or failure is totally depending on the quality of their employees and its globally
recognized that training and development of human capital skills bring economic wellbeing for companies.
IT professionals are facing numerous problems while performing their duties. For instance, latest
knowledge about different IT tools and platforms, gaining IT certifications for being authorized users,
participation in IT conferences and trade shows, different IT experts required related trainings and these
training required huge cost as well.

Employee training and development should support individual performance to impact positively on
organizational productivity both in short term as well in long term. Similarly, extra investment in training
and development will lead to more productivity. Same as it is, if Human Resource Manager failed to design
proper methods of training then will definitely cause serious problems to organization in term of time and
money. Consequently, employee skills development and training are not given appropriate focus and
result could be poor organizational performance. Therefore, it is essentials to have better understanding
of HR practices particularly training and skill development that enable employees to perform better and
motivate in the work. In return, the productivity of an individual and organization strengthen / improved
and further increases the abilities of an organization to provide products / services as per customers’
requirements more efficiently and effectively.

Hence, it is necessary to study the importance of training and skill development for an IT organization
which lead them to be competitive in the market and indeed there is no other way to achieved
organization objectives without increases employees’ skills, abilities and competencies through required
training and skills development methods. However, the aim of this study is to provide HR management
mechanism to design accurate training and skills development methods specially in IT department with
the challenges that most IT organizations of Karachi are facing. I hope, the findings will lay the proper
framework for future empirical studies of HRM practices and this will become the source of inspiration to
other researcher in developing the theoretical practices of HRM in IT organizations.
