Apply What You Know – Answers

1. Why is it sometimes difficult for managers to get others to do what they want them to
do? Because maybe it’s something nobody wants to do but it just needs to be done, or
maybe the relationship between the management and the employees isn’t very good
and they just don’t listen.
2. Why is it important for managers to gather and share information with their
employees? It’s important because the employees should be held to a certain level of
expectations and the employees should always know what’s going on with the
company.
3. Why is it important for managers to consider all of the types of resources needed
when completing planning activates? It’s important to consider all of the resources
because as a manager you want to make sure your company and your employees are in
the best position to do their jobs.

The best employee may not be the best supervisor because to be a supervisor you need
to be a good leader, and you need to be able to recognize peoples mistakes and be able

responsibilities and work? They are forced to split their time because they have to

to worry about problem solving and how they can make peoples jobs easier and more
efficient.

important to success of the company, and why? Out of the five responsibility’s, I think
communicating the goals and directions of management to employees is the most

the employees, how is anything supposed to get done?

The can decide what days of the week employees will work and what tasks they will
complete while at work.

management information system (MIS) to identify the cause of the problem?
A manager might use the MIS to see what caused the problem last time or see what
solution they used to fix the problem the last time it occurred.

respond positively to his suggestions. What might be the cause of this?
This might be because he hasn’t collaborated with his fellow team members, or
maybe it was just a bad suggestion.

Steve that it isn’t the right time to make changes? Why or why not?
Yes, because they’re seeing it from another point of view and they have the more
experience.
3. What might happen if Steve goes ahead with his plan to implement changes with
his employees rather than getting approval and cooperation from other
supervisors?
He would probable get fired because he didn’t get approval and it’s a change that
effects the company and the employees.

employees’ ideas accepted be others?
I would maybe tell him to start with one idea at a time.
