Abstract: A collection of user’s manuals for a variety of offset presses, cutters, trimmers, and
other pieces of book production machinery.

Biographical/Historical Note: Originally separate companies, Intertype Corporation and

Harris-Seybold merged in 1957 to become the Harris-Intertype Corporation. Collectively they
produced a variety of presses, paper cutters, and typecasting machines, and slowly merged into
IT and defense contract work.

Scope & Contents: The collection includes manuals for a variety of Harris-Seybold machines,
including offset presses, stock control, hydrodrills, folding machines, roll dampeners, stitchers,
cutters, and trimmers. Many manuals are for very specific models, and most are unnumbered.
There are also a few brochures, advertisements, and pieces of sales information ephemera.
