REASONS FOR THIS INNOVATIVE IDEA OF INTRODUCING ROBOTS

From the stone age, a time where mankind came to learn about fire, a time where beings
thought that the Earth was still flat to an era of new, overwhelming technological
advancements, we have truly evolved. Gradually we managed to unlock some of the many
secrets of the universe which came about as a result of using steam and water for power
production, to further discovering computers and electricity. Today we rely on electricity for
our everyday life activities, though it makes life much easier it also means we have to take more
resources from the environment than we actually should. It is all about demand and supply and
the more we demand the more we suffocate the environment we share with other organisms.
The most common example is with electricity, our demand for electricity is so overwhelmingly
high, this puts a strain on the heavy industries to produce and supply more of it. This means
more coal has to be mined and burnt which would be a major contributor of the amount of
carbon we have in our atmosphere. This increases global warming which disturbs our way of
living and that of other organisms.
Which brings us to the introduction of artificial intelligence(robotics), the first step to the fourth
industrial revolution. I believe that investing in artificial intelligence may assist in preserving and
maybe even revive the environment we currently occupy. Not just for the benefit of man but
for other organisms as well.
With regards to production robots are more reliable to complete a task than humans and are
more likely to do it with precision and in a way that is less destructive to the environment. For
example we could have robot units permanently set in their working stations rather than have
many individuals travelling from their homes to work and back. This would reduce the demand
for destructive components such as travelling vehicles that emit large amounts of carbon to the
atmosphere. If we tap into production cost then robots are the right way to go because we can
have a single robot unit performing a task that requires at least ten individuals, sadly this would
mean less employment opportunities. In terms of speed you can never go wrong with robots
because they complete tasks much faster than humans, by that we save time and can invest it
on other aspects of the world.
With the safety side of things, well it is the most obvious advantage of utilizing robotics because
not only do robots deliver quality they also perform with accuracy and with precision which
minimizes the chances of things ever going wrong on site. Take mining for example, we could
be having multiple robot units operating underground instead of humans, meaning that we
would no longer have to supply oxygen underground thus keeping the chances of anything
catching fire or explosions at a minimum, and even if such occurs we wouldn’t be risking human
lives.
With covid-19 at its peach we should be more careful in the way we do certain things, instead
of having to walk to pharmacies and grocery shops to collect purchased items we could just
have drones deliver these to our doorstep thus minimizing the spread of the virus. This way
robots help keep and sustain a healthy environment, it is a way of securing a future where man
and machine co-exist.
