THE SURVIVAL OF
HUMAN BEINGS
ON EARTH.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
GROUP 4 PRESENTATION.
1. Introduction
•The introduction of artificial
intelligence(robotics), is the
first step to the fourth
industrial revolution. I
nvesting in artificial
intelligence may assist in
preserving and maybe even
revive the environment we
currently occupy. It is not just
for the benefit of man but for
other organisms as well.
2. CASE STUDY THAT SUPPORT THE EXISTANCE OF ROBOTS.
3. NEGATIVE IMPACTS
OF ROBOTS ON THE
ENVIRONMENT.
•Since robots operate using electricity, and most
industrial electricity producing stations are not
environmentally friendly. It means that there will be more
greenhouse gases released by the stations and that will
cause climate global warming and ozone depletion.

•. Robots need a high supply of power making them more

expensive to maintain and when the demand grows more
it could be damaging to the environment lead to
excessive use of resources making high greenhouse gas
emissions and increasing global warming.

•Since electricity is made from burning fossil fuels, that

produce carbon dioxide but that is nothing compared to
the amount of coal used. The burning of fossil fuels also
contributes to climate change and global warming.
4. POSITIVE IMPACT OF ROBOTS ON
THE ENVIRONMENT.
• Robots use less energy and waste
Reducing greenhouse gas emissions be facilitated by robotic assistance in renewable energy generation. This includes the
construction and maintenance of solar power systems, wind towers, and hydroelectric generating stations. Also, robots can
monitor industrial sites for the emission of greenhouse gasses. Robots also reduce waste and emission across our lives.
Contributing to environmental mitigation. Robots have an extremely high productivity rate.

• Robots prevent environmental disaster

Howe R. (2020) mentioned that mitigating climate disasters require a fast response in unpredictable and unstable
environments. Robotic systems can assist in responding to the predicted increase in floods by rescuing victims and assisting
with post-flood recovery. Similar roles to robots can apply to wildfires. Also, robots can help with restoring the biological
impacts of climate change, for example by planting trees and killing invasive species.

• Robots make mining more environmentally friendly

During mining robots can prevent pollution and the release of gas in the atmosphere through carefully monitoring. Energy
consumption is being reduced during mines activities and work is being optimized. Less-efficient machines are being
minimized that means the environment is being saved from deforestation. Robots can help reduce waste that is incinerated by
efficiently sorting material that can be recycled and put in use again.
5. POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS THAT WILL
HELP SUSTAUIN THE
ENVIRONMENT.
•• The use of renewable resources such as solar energy, wind power and
hydropower can power up the robots together with the machinery that is
used in the mining industry and carbon emissions will be reduced. A
reduction in carbon emissions means a more sustainable mining sector.
•• Replacing old diesel engines with new electric engines can reduce the
amount of carbon dioxide emitted by the robots and the mining
machinery. The Machinery should always be maintained so that they do
not spill harmful chemicals due to leakage that will contaminate the soil
and emit harmful gases that may be harmful to both the environment and
human beings.

•• Often the robots in mines require water to operate, mostly when
drilling. The robots can use underground water and channel surface
water to river, streams and oceans for better aquatic life and safe
drinking water.

•• Mines produce waste that pollutes water and land. To reduce this the
usage of equipment that allows for the reuse and recycling of the waste
that is produced should be used. Water used to wash the equipment can
be used for dust suppression. • Recycling is one of the best ways you
can practice and promote environmental awareness.
6. Precautionary measures that should
be put in place to prevent robots from
negatively impacting the environment.
•The use of machinery that does not produce any harzordous
gases.
•Ensuring that air, water and noise pollution is at its range, the
biodiversity and humans can be disturbed.
• Implementation of drones to see any slight unusual movement
and detection of any suspected errors by the robots so that the
environment can be the deadly chemicals used in robot sectors.
•Robotic engineers in mines should use the deep digging method
instead of wide range mines this way the environment is safe, and
more oxygen is available than needed.
•• Robots should get regular check-ups on their mechanical and
software conditions to ensure that there are no faults om the
robots that could be costly to the mines.
7. Conclusion
•Nowadays robots perform the jobs of humans in the
mining industry. Robots have become useful in many
ways. Robots have a high production rate meaning they
boost the economy with their efficiency. Even though
robots cannot perform every single job, they do the
jobs that they can do better, faster and more accurate
than any other human can. Robots do more good than
harm. Every day more innovative ideas are pitched
through on how robots can be around and sustain the
environment for the future.
•Robots are here to stay and there is no denying that.
With the fourth industrial revolution started, it means
robots are the future. As the technology improves there
will be new ways to use robots not only in the mining
industry and that brings new hope and new potential.
